Week 15 Retiform Technique How To

This is one of  my husbands favorite techniques.  Now he sees a lot of cards, and it isn't often he comments on one in my stamping room.  I had the today's card from the video sitting on the window sill, and when Tom (my hubby) came home from work he said,  "this is really pretty, did you make it?" as if I don't make really pretty cards (smiling). I thought it was interesting since in my video this morning I commented on how much he likes this technique and I guess he really does.  What do you think of it?

Today's video is a bit longer to give good detailed instructions on how to do this technique.  I like to keep them under 5 minutes but with today's that just wasn't possible, you can always fast forward through the parts that you do not need to watch completely.   Hope you enjoy.

Stampin' Up! New Catalog Gingham Garden Patterned Paper & Kind and Cozy Stamp Set

Gingham Garden Paper, Kind and Cozy Stamp Set, Stampin UpSeveral times a year leaders from Minnesota and surrounding states get together for a Shoe Box Swap.  It is much like a Pot Luck with cards.  Each person brings a "shoe box" or something similar with the items and products pre-cut to make their card.   Then everyone moves around and makes one of each card.  It is so much fun to see all the variety.

The theme for this swap was pre-order products.  A perk of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is being able to have products early before they are released.  I was not able to attend this months shoe box swap - the card above is one of the cards I mailed in to participate in the swap.  They will stamp theirs, and within the next few days I will receive 33 hand stamped cards - how cool is that?

Only a few more days left to order from the 2012-2013 catalog - don't miss out on your favorite items that are left.  Some have been discounted up to 60% so don't miss it!

Retired or Deceased Stamp Sets?

I had to laugh the other night, after my customers were finished making the cards at one of my workshops, one of them asked if I had the Deceased list.  It took me a few minutes to realize she was asking for the list of retiring stamp sets and accessories.   While I did laugh, it is true, we are losing some of our favorite special stamp sets. On of my favorites stamp sets that I will miss greatly is Just Believe.

Just Believe Stamp Set
Here is one of the cards we made at the workshop, I think everyone that attended workshops this month purchased this set if they didn't already own it.  You only have until May 31 to purchase this set.

Just Believe stamp set, cool vase with oval punch
Here is the other card we made using the set.  Love this little vase using the oval punch and cutting the bottom off flat and then the top at an angle - added the little cross stitch through the center of the vase with the with one of the Needlepoint Embossing folders from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Sneak Peek, soon to be released Stampin' Up! Wildflower Meadow Stamp Set & Embossing Folder

Yesterday I shared the Framed Art and 12 x 12 page along with several cards that we made at my Diva & Dudes Stampers event.  Here is another card we made using the Wildflower Meadow Stamp and the coordinating Embossing Folder.

Wildflower Meadow Stamp
I embossed the card base with the Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder.  For the stamped image I used Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker to color the stamp along with Old Olive.  Then I stamped the Enjoy (Fabulous Phrases) in Night of Navy on Daffodil Delight Cardstock and punched it out with one of my all time favorite punches Jewel Tag Punch.

Jewel Tag Punch Stampin Up

The Jewel Tag Punch is perfect for any card or project where you need just a little something extra. This punch is on the retirement list and is only available while supplies last. If you would like to have this little punch in your collection be sure and order it today at my online store.   While I won't be able to share this punch at my Stampin' Up! classes it will stay in my collection for my personal use.

Wildflower Meadow Stamp
Finishing touches using the Basic Jewel Pearls and the mini silver brad on the tag.

Gingham Garden Patterned paper Embossed
On this card I used the Wildflower Meadow Stamp set and Embossing folder together.  I stamped the Wildflower and then placed the folder over the stamped image and ran it through my Big Shot to give the stamped image a 3D effect, VERY COOL!  What do you think of this great new combo?

This style of card makes a great card to display a photo also.  I hope you enjoyed this weeks Technique How To and don't forget to download...

What's coming soon to Stampin' Up! and what will be leaving?

Oh Hello Stampinup stamp set

Vintage dimensional flowers attached by tulle, just snip how many you need and you have the perfect embellishment to compliment the Stampin' Up! Oh Hello stamp set.  Put the vintage flowers on your next Stampin' Up! order before they leave at the end of the month at my 24/7 online store.

Stampin up vintage flower trimThey are very easy to color with classic ink and a dauber, or simply use your Stampin' Write Marker and color them directly.  The Happy Birthday is from the stamp set Perfect Punches - and it is just that perfect!  This stamp set will retire the end of May, so you won't want to miss getting your own either in wood or clear mount.

I have such a hard time deciding wood or clear, wood or clear?  This is one set I would purchase in wood since you punch them all out with an array of coordinating punches, so lining it up is not necessary. You might be saying, but the clear mount come in those cool classes and are such a storage saver which is true.  But I think Stampin' Up! has the perfect solution...

These new cases are similar to our clear-mount boxes and fit perfectly on the shelf right next to them. They also have the images and stamp set name on the spine to make your search for the right set even easier.
