Week 35 Tie-Dyed Stamping Technique How To

Today is week 35, in our 52 week series of Technique How To and Tie-Dyed it is.  Grab your cup of moring Java and sit back relax and watch the how to video.

Tie Die Technique
Many of you think that after 15 years and doing this professionallly I never make mistakes while stamping.  Well one is in today's Technique - a very important step!  As I was editing the video and pictures something didn't seem right but I just keep moving on.  Much like I recommend when a card isn't turning out just as you thought it should.  As I am posting the images,  I remember what it is.  Before you start to add the color to your cardstock with the daubers, crumple up the paper.  It will give it an even cooler Tie-dyed look!  Now that I am confessing, here are just a few of the other goof ups I make on an occasion...

  • Stampin in the wrong ink
  • Glue the front of my card upside down
  • Address the envelope upside down
  • Get the front of my card on crooked
  • Run out of snail or white cardstock
  • Can't find my gluedots when they are right in front of me
  • Rock my stamp and get icky edges
  • Get ink all over my fingers and then on my project
  • Mount my wood stamp upside down

I am hoping just a few of these ring true for you too!  Not tha I want you to get ink all over you newly hand-stamped card, but I would hate to think I am alone.  Would love to have you leave a comment and let us know the funniest thing that you have done while stamping?  PG of course!  Sometimes it can get pretty lonely here in my stamp room while I type, your comments are the food for energy that keep me going.

Sizzix Pop n' Cuts and Witches!

450 Border BuddiesPatsy here this week, have you ever woke up in the middle of the night with and idea, or been sitting at the breakfast table and you feel the urge to run to your stamp room and create before your inspiration passes.  Well that is what happened to me this past week.

Dress Form framelits, pop & cuts, Stampin Up Withc

Karen Burniston is a well-known designer and papercrafter who's primary focus is on pop-up's. She has designed several of Stampin' Up!'s  exclusive Pop n' Cut dies.  She has been published in all the major papercraft magazines and has contributed to numerous idea books. She teaches pop-up classes at stores and events throughout the world.  She was at our 25th Stampin' Up! celebration in July.

Dress Form Stampin Up Witch tipped

You can imagine my surprise when my computer dings "you've got mail" and I open it to find a personal email from Karen Burniston.    Her email was filled with wonderful compliments and encouragement.  She mentioned with Halloween coming up she would love to see what I would do with one of the Pop n' Cuts, well that kept going through my mind over and over... and this particular morning it hit me what I wanted to do, I would make a witch with the Pop n' Cuts and Dress Up Framelits.  So this was my handmade creation.  What did we do before The Big Shot?

How I find Stamping Inspiration

Stamping Inspiration
I find Stamping inspiration all around me.  Take for example this lovely bouquet of flowers Diva Julie Satterlie brought me last week.  I was so surprised to get this bouquet as a Thank You for spending some time with her. It really made my day!  Julie is part of my Diva & Dude Stampers community.   I  would love to have you join my community of stampers and today is the last day to join for only $25 and you get $26.95 in Stampin' Up! product - you can't go wrong!  Email me today to find out more or click here.

Creative Elements Stamp Set Stampin 1
The beautiful colors in the flowers inspired me to create a card using similar Stampin' Up! colors (cajun craze, daffodil delight, raspberry ripple, eggplant envy). Here is the card I made using the Creative Elements Stamp Set and a few goodies from our Tuesday's Weekly Deals!

In case you missed Stampin' Up! started a "Weekly Deals" each Tuesday.

Please note that these deals will be offered “while supplies last” and that the discount will appear in your shopping bag when you check out.

Spooky Stampin' Up! Halloween Card

  BorderbuddyfinalHello Stampers,

It's time for another Border Buddy share.  Today I wanted to show you a Halloween card we made at my Big Shot Club using the fabulous Label Card Thinlit die.  Making these flip flop cards (this is what I call them!) has never been easier.

It's beginning to feel a lot like fall around my part of the country - beautiful sunny days but definitely a chill in the air!  That's means Halloween can't be far behind.  This card uses lots of Halloween product from the Holiday Catalogue - I love the Witches Brew washi tape and you could use two of the designs (orange stripes and words) for any project - in fact I used the word one for a vintage card!  And the skull and crossbones would be awesome for a Pirate party!

Week 33 Stamping Technique How To Watercoloring

Want to learn how to watercolor like a pro - with this weeks technique how to you will learn it is very easy and totally fun!  I always wanted to learn how to watercolor but can't really draw a stick person.  When I discovered stamps 17 years ago I thought here is my chance the art work is all ready for me all I have to do is color it.  Much like coloring as a small child with watercoloring you don't always have to stay in the lines an often times you don't even need to color it in completely.

Watercolor technique how to week 33
When I saw the Color Me Christmas set I knew it had to be mine.  It is a great set for watercoloring my first choice in all the techniques.  Besides isn't this the cutest little reindeer you ever did see.  You won't want to miss this fun holiday set.

Snail Mail still can warm the hearts of many, see how!

Patsy Waggoner stamps to die for
Nothing brightens my day more than receiving a hand stamped card in the mail.  While I love staying connected via my blog, facebook, pinterest and a few tweets to quickly touch and warm someones heart try mailing them a hand stamped card.

I received this card in the mail from someone I have never meet in person, but through my blog.  I had sent Jeanne a few Stampin' Up! Candy Dots as a thank you for her online order and she sent me this beautiful card she had made using a few, more like many of them.  What inspired me the most is she share that she is 91 years old, she along with several of my stamping friends in their 90's give me inspiration that I will still be stamping for at least another 30 years!

That is the wonderful thing about stamping and paper crafts there is no age stipulation.  My niece started stamping when she could barely hold a stamp at just a Little over a year.  So no matter you age if you have not tried stamping I would give it a try.

What are Candy Dot?

Adhesive-backed dots you can apply to Candy Dots Brad Bases (sold separately) to create your own 3/16" colored brads. Or skip the brad base and apply them directly to paper as Jeanne did in this card

* Available in color collections    Brights    Subtles    Regals    Neutrals

* 100 pieces: 10 ea. of 10 colors

Check them out just click on the color collection!  They add just the right finishing touch to any card!
