Stamping Border Buddies Saturday & Christmas Blessings

Wonderful Blessing Single Holiday StampHello Stampers it is Border Buddies Saturday, Patsy here.  It has been a blessing working with Alison on a weekly post and I love being able to share with so many more stampers.

This week I am going to share with you a tent card I made using one of our Single Holiday Stamps.  Stampin' Up! has so many great things to offer and sometimes when they come out mid year and are not featured in the catalog, they go missing in action.  When I saw the Wonderful Blessings stamp,  I just knew I had to have it, after all it is really what the meaning Christmas is all about.  It also reminds me of a small plastic nativity set I had has a child in the 60's.

60's Nativity Set Platic
I had totally forgotten about the nativity set until I saw this stamp set and then a flood of memories came back.  While this is not my nativity set I went on line and googled "60's plastic nativity set"  and the exact one like mine came up.  Did any of you have a set like this?  I hope this Holiday Season is filled with wonderful memories for you and the blessings of Christmas!Single Stamps Holiday

Week 39 Technique How to Glitter Window

Glitter Window

Chalk Talk with it’s matching Framelits seemed like the perfect set to use to demonstrate the Glitter Window Card.   You really can’t capture in a photo how amazing the glitter effect are on this card.   Our dazzling diamonds is like no other glitter you can buy.  Some of my customers comment that they have purchased fine glitter in the store but it isn’t as glittery as ours.  I tell them that ours isn’t called Dazzling Diamonds for nothing that it is diamond powder and sometimes they actually believe me and I have to tell them “Just Kidding!”  You couldn’t buy real diamond dust for that price.

I hope you enjoy the video today showing you how to make this fun card!

Remember if you liked today's video to please share it with your friends on pinterest, facebook etc. by clicking on the little icons below!  I want to thank so  many of you for letting your friends know about my blog and Technique How To Videos.

Happy Thanksgiving from Canada!

Borderbuddylogo

Hello Stampers,

It's Saturday!  So that means another Border Buddy share from Patsy & Alison.

I wanted to wish my American friends all the very best for a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday (don't kill yourselves on that Black Friday madness thing you all do! LOL) and what better way than to share some of my favourite swaps I received with a "thankful" or "Thanksgiving" theme.  I know I'm a few days early but I wanted you to have some time to make these amazing cards before the big day!

DSC_9581 By Mo Dickie (my sister in Toronto)

Mo used the "bark" from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit (#133463).

This kit has lots of cool little elements including the fabulous White Stampin' Chalk Marker ((#132133) but I LOVE this birch paper ribbon so much that I think it's worth buying the kit just to get some! Just looking at it reminds me of growing up in the east - we don't see many birch trees here on the west coast.

Don't you love how Mo stamped the wood slice on the bark paper (which has texture by the way - looks like real birch strips from the tree)?

131733L

The stamps are from Truly Grateful (#131730 for wood and #131733 for clear mount).  These elements can be used for so many themes especially the wood chevron images!

I LOVE the little safety pin from our  Vintage Trinkets (#118764) with the punched out heart - so adorable!

Unfortunately I can't give the artist credit because there is no name on the back but the little touches on this card are amazing.

The layering of the 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon (#132140) with the 5/8" Crochet Victoria Trim Ribbon adds texture and dimension.  She also used two tiny pearls on the tag and made a cute "reinforcement" for her tag.  Love this!

Kris' card is so gorgous in person that this picture can't do it justice but hopefully you can see some of the elements that make it a WOW!  First there is the  1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon (#132140) again but Kris has layered a piece of the 3/4" Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon on top.  She has stamped and cut out two of the Magnificent Maple images (#131868) and popped up the "Thanks" image from Harvest of Thanks (#131736 wood, #131739 clear mount).  There is also the Gorgeous Grunge stamps (#130514 wood, #130517 clear mount) and Positively Chevron Background stamp (#130496 wood, #130499 clear mount) on the card front.  The finishing touch is the button tied with the Linen Thread (#104199).

I love this card - so simple and so elegant.  This could be used for Thanksgiving but it's a perfect "Thank You" card on it's own.

It uses the single Magnificent Maple stamp (#131868) which has been embossed with Tangerine Tango EP (#123106).  The layering and dimension are executed perfectly on this card.

Week 38, Create Custom Colored Ink Pads With Baby Wipes & Reinkers

Snowflakes
Creating Custom Colored Ink Pads With Baby Wipes & Reinkers gives interest and personality to your card.  You choose the colors add a few drops and let the baby wipes do their thing.  I have been out of town this past week and when I was thinking what I would share with you this week for our Technique How To, without being able to record a new video - I realized I had not shared Reinkers and Baby Wipes.  I will give you all a chuckle as you watch and oldie but a goodie!  While the stamp set is retired the technique is the same and I created a new card with current products today to share.

Why no new video today and Why am I Late?

We have spent the last 3 days at Rochester, Minnesota at the world famous Mayo Clinc and Hospitals.  It isn't our first visit there this year while our dear sister in law LaVone has been going through treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).  She was airlifted there a the end of April just a few days before we left on the Stampin' Up! Incentive trip to Fiji. We were amazed and grateful that they were able to get her through those first weeks so she could start to recieve treatments.

Less than a month ago we were celebrating the fact that her brother was a match for a stem cell transplant (there was only a 25% chance), everyone started to make plans for friends and family to take turns being with her.  She would need someone there with her for the 100+ day stay at the transplant house.  Unfortuanately life doesn't always go as we plan and Tuesday we were told that she will not be able to recieve the transplant her counts are to high and the chemo is not working.

They have been given many choices over the past 7 months but none as grim as this weeks.

Choices

  1. To go home and do nothing
  2. Set up some chemo treatments back home to buy some time.

It was a very quiet day as we drove around the river valley area just to escape the hospital.  What does one say and very little seems to matter when you are faced with these issues.

LaVone and I share the love of Stamping and we even did some of that to pass the time away at the hosptial.  Stamping has gotten me, my family & friends through many tough times in the past years.  Stamping is more than cardmaking it represents love, caring, sharing and giving.  Think of someone you know who could use some of your love and caring through a hand stamped card this week and send it off to them.

Touch the life of someone with a hand stamped card.

Is hot chocolate as popular in Canada as in Minnesota?  How about other parts of the U.S.?  You could also tuck in a package of instant Chicken Noodle Soup and take to a friend who has a winter cold.  No matter what you decide to put in them, when you give them to someone it will be a simple gesture to let them know they are important in your life.  When was the last time someone gave you a little something that warmed your heart. Click the comment link and share with us a simple gesture that someone did for you that you have not forgotten.

Hand Stamped Gift Ideas 2I hand stamped them and used Smoky Slate as the card base also.  I had a hard time deciding if I liked the Coastal Cabana or the Smokey Slate better.  Which is your fav?  These are just   fun paper crafting gift idea for you and the holidays. The best part of snowflakes is in MN we can use them almost 9 months of the year LOL.

Week 37 Faux Cloisonné Stamping Technique How To Video

Faux Cloisonné Technique How To Series
Sorry this is a bit slow in getting up today.  It must have been something in the air, because my husband came home yesterday and said all the computers are 3M were down until afternoon.  And yesterday morning when I went in to add a few things to the video my software kept getting an error message.  I had a workshop in the afternoon so the video was put on hold.  Long story short... it is still no working...our son who lives near by (in fact next door) has the same software on his computer so I got his and finished it up this morning.

So without further a do this weeks Technique is Faux Cloisonné, say that more than a few times.  You will get a chuckle as you hear me trying to pronounce it in the video.  Back when I started Stampin' Up! 15 years ago glossy pages in a magazine where standard, today it is a different story and more difficult to find the real glossy.  You will never look at another magazine the same again, as you flip through the pages you will say, "that looks like a good page to do Cloisonné with, oh this one is better".

If you have tried some of the stamping techniques from the Technique How To Series, I would LOVE to see them.  Just email me and I will invite you to the Technique How To Series Board on my Pinterest and you can upload your samples there to share.
