Rack Up Some Amazing Sycamore Designer Series Paper on the Clearance Rack Blitz

Butterfly Punches, Sycamore Stree Designer PaperDo you like a great deal as much as me?  I am a bargain shopper and love a sale.  You won't want to miss checking out the Clearance Rack, new items were added on Friday and you can save up to 80% on many awesome Stampin' Up! products like this Sycamore Deisigner Series Paper - regularly $10.95 now only $3.29 for 12 sheets.  Stampin' Up!'s designer paper is a high quaility double sided paper.

Stamping up a card with bright flowers and butterflies brightens up the winter days.  We are in a Blizzard warning and that always is a great time to stay in and stamp, much like a rainy day.  Love the details on the focal point of this card with the butterflies layered and touch of glimmer from the rhinestones.   The ribbon effect I created using one of the needlepoint embossing folders and embossing a narrow strip of paper.

Don't wait to long to check out the Clearance Rack Blitz - items are only while supplies last!

Celebrate the Everyday!

It's Border Buddy Saturday again (where does the time go?) and it's Alison here!  The title of today's post is a "teaser" for the new Occasions Catalogue (or Catalog if you live in the US LOL) which launches January 3rd!  I loved making Christmas cards and projects with the Holiday Catalogue products (if you want any you better hurry and order before January 2nd!) but when you start making Christmas themed projects in August you are so ready for pretty flowers and spring colours by the time December rolls around!

Here are some cards made using some of the brand new product from the Occasions Catalogue - if you live in Canada and would like a copy mailed to you please let me know.  If you live in the US Patsy will take care of you!  You will be able to view the catalogue online on January 3rd at either of our webpages too!

This catalogue has lots of "gold" products available - Gold is very "in" these days in home decor so the timing is perfect for your spring themed cards! The card above uses some sneak peek products including the Happy Watercolour stamp set and Gold Sequin Trim.

This card uses the Flower Shop stamp set and Pansy Punch from the current Annual Catalogue along with a new set called Petite Petals with a matching Petite Petals Punch from the Occasions catalogue.  It's like a "mini me" version of the Flower Shop image. So adorable! The watercolour "blobs" and sentiment are also from the Happy Watercolour set.  I wanted to use spring colours so chose Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding. There is some pretty Designer Series Paper in the catalogue in these colours!

I hope you've enjoyed this little spring teaser and will join us for lots of new products after January 3rd.

After the Holiday Thank You Cards

Cindy-schuster_crbphoto-2I wanted to share with you these fun Thank You Cards that are perfect for sending out Holiday Thank Yous!  They were created by Cindy Shuster who is one of this years Stampin' Up! Artisans.

You will love these, 3-1/2" x 5" Whisper White Note Cards with Crumb Cake Note Card Envelopes, that she used to make these quick and easy cards!  Often times when I am in the process I make many of the same card. The designer paper is from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack.  She used the Crumb Cake dots pattern and cut them to 1-1/4" x 5". Love the liners for the Crumb Cake envelopes using the Big Shot and the note card-size Envelope Liners Framelits Die I LOVE THESE!!! Didn't even order them at first because I didn't think I would use them.  But then friends starting sending me cards with the lined envelopes and it was all over.  It is so much fun to line your envelopes and a great way to use up some of that designer paper you have been hoarding.

Cindy-schuster_crbphoto-1The “Thank you” in the Top card is from the Four You Stamp Set and is stamped with Coastal Cabana Classic Ink and embellished with the fun In Color Boutique Details buttons.  The middle card is done with Strawberry Slush and the lower card Crisp Cantaloupe all 2013-2015 In Colors.  Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape on this card is an optional item. It will be available on January 3 in the occasions catalog. Be sure to add it to your wish list! It is so fun! Love these cards and thanks so much Cindy for designing and sharing these!

Don't miss tomorrow's Border Buddies!  I can't THANK Alison enough for doing the past few weeks of Border Buddies while I spent time with family during LaVone's illness and passing.  Please be sure and subscribe to  Alison's Blog!

Week 42 Faux Silk, Technique How To Video

This Weeks Technique How to Video

So excited about this weeks Technique How To, but then I think I get excited about them all!  I am getting ahead of myself in the video it says week 43, but we are only on week 42.  It could be the Soft Sky color that made me fall in love with this card.  Monochromatic cards are always a great option, clean and classic!  When you can't decide what colors to put together, just pick your favorite color and go with that for the entire card.

Week 42 Faux Silk

This technique is a great way to use that all crumpled up tissue paper that you got in your presents yesterday - so if you already put it in the garbage - QUICK go rescue it now and try out this weeks technique.  Here are the Top 5 reasons you will want to get an everywhere glue stick...

  1. It has a square shape so it goes into the corners so nicely.
  2. Orderless
  3. Permanent
  4. Acid free so safe for scrapbooking also
  5. Economical

Merry Christmas and thanks so much for your patience in our difficult time

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.  I really want to thank you all for your patience this past few months while we spent time with family during my Sister-in-law LaVone's 8 month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  She lost her fight last Thursday, December 19  around 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the age of 47.  Christmas was her favorite time of year, I can only imagine the celebration it is in Heaven.  She loved stamping and was also a Diva in my Diva & Dudes Stampers Community.  This is one of my favorite pictures of her with my husband's youngest brother (Todd) at their son's wedding.

LaVone & ToddI learned so much from her in the past 8  months.  Never once when we went to see her in the hospital did she ever complain no once.  She always would say "I am Okay" "I'm Good".  She received amazing care at Mayo Methodist Hospital with the finest team of doctors.  Many said they were touched in a special way by her and that their lives will be enriched because they knew her.  So while my love of stamping and time to stamp has had to take a back seat - again I want to thank you for your patience and I hope to be back on track this next week, starting tomorrow (Thursday) with Technique How To, Week 41 Faux Silk! You won't want to miss it.  See you tomorrow.

A Christmas Star!

Hello Stampers,

Border Buddies Saturday again!  Alison here!  Hope you are all ready for the holidays to begin - I've been able to get all my shopping done and my Christmas cards are in the mail - hopefully they all arrive before the big day.

134813LI love the Christmas Star stamp, one of the Christmas assortment of single stamps available until January 31st!

It measures 4 1/4" across from tip to tip so it's large enough for cards, ornaments and more!

Here's a really beautiful project I made as one of the pillow gifts at our recent Retreat.  So easy but very pretty!

Here's how to create this pretty decoration yourself:

  1. Stamp the star in Versamark Ink on Cardstock Vellum paper and emboss in White.  Heat set.
  2. Cut out the star (tip - leave a little border around the embossed lines)
  3. Cut out "Merry" from the Expressions Thinlits Dies in Silver Foil Paper*
  4. Use a bone folder to "score" the lines of the star.  Pinch the "long" points so they are mountain fold and press in the shorter points so they form valleys. This way your star will look 3D.  Be careful not to score through the vellum!
  5. Glue the "Merry" to the star with glue dots - you'll only need a few just so it attaches in a few places.
  6. Add a large Rhinestone to the centre.
  7. Punch a hole in the top of the star and thread a piece of Silver Ribbon through to form a hanger for the ornament.

Christmas Star #134813
Expressions Thinlit Dies #132171
Silver Foil Paper #132178
White Embossing Powder #109132
White Vellum Cardstock #101856
Silver 1/8" Ribbon #132137
Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels #125577

*Tip for using Merry thinlit - place a piece of wax paper between the thinlit and the silver paper and it will "pop" out easily. The wax paper will also keep the foil paper from being "etched" with your clear plate (because if it's anything like mine it's pretty marked up!).  If you don't need the wax paper then place a piece of computer paper between your plate and thinlit/cardstock)

You can make a bunch of these as decorations for your tree, to put on packages, cards or to use as place markers at your table!

Patsy and I wish you and your families the very best of the holiday season - Merry Christmas!

What's Up with Washi?

Hello Stampers,

It's time for our weekly Border Buddy Post - Alison here!

I love Washi Tape and I've found that it's the easiest and fastest way to add interest to your cards!  Here are some ways you can use Washi Tape in your own card designs.

DSC_0120  DSC_0115

I've used the Season of Style Designer Washi Tape from the Holiday Mini along with a new Washi tape coming in the Occasions Catalogue (which launches January 3rd).  This is the same card but presented in two ways - portrait and landscape.  Which do you like better?  Leave a comment to let Patsy and I know!

Here's a video showing you how to create this card at home:

And Washi is not just for Christmas Cards - here are some of my favourite cards using different Washi Tape in the catalogue:

By Karen Duke

Use the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape #131269

Love how Karen has stamped on the Washi - I would recommend using Black Staz On for this technique!

This is a card I made last year - there is a video showing you how to use the Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape (#129314) in this unique way - just click here to watch it!

By Glenda Travelstead

Uses the Season of Style Designer Washi Tape (#132155) from the Holiday Catalogue (hurry it will be gone on January 2nd!)

This will be my last "Border Buddy"post before Christmas - I'm wishing my dear friend Patsy a wonderful Christmas and New Year and all the best to our loyal blog followers near and far!
