Step Up Stampin' with Work of Art!

Hello Stampers,

It's Step Up Stampin' Wednesday and it's Alison here today!

This is a sneak peek of a fabulous new stamp set called Work of Art.  You can use the images as the focal part of a card OR as a cool background with other images.

Here's the simple version of the card using the stamp set and some of the Baker's twine.  Nice and easy to create.

If you wanted to Step It Up you could add some Gold Vellum designer paper and some pearls.

AND if you really wanted to Step it Up you could add some Gold bling in the form of embossing powder and sequins.

Here's a video showing you how to recreate the card at home:

5 Ways to Honor Those Who Have Served

Red White and Blue
Memorial day is more than a day to welcome summer, it is a time to be thankful, reflect and honor those that served our country and freedoms.  My father served in Korea, he told me once that it was a short period of time, but impacted his entire life.

I was fortunate to have a wonderful, loving father who help shape the person I am today.  Integrity, honesty and compassion where all things that were part of who my father was and we learned more by example than by words.

There are hundreds of ways for you to honor those who have served here are just 5 simple ways...

  1. Take part in a moment at 3PM to remember those who have served and also to those who are serving!
  2. Buy a Poppy, flowers that represents the memories and emotions of war is the red poppy.  We always bought Poppies on the street from VFW memebers.  I did not know that they were assembled by disabled and needy veterans in VA hospitals, since 1924.
  3. If you have had someone who has served and is willing to share, take some notes and record this for your family history.
  4. If you see a solider out to eat and in uniform, tell the server you would like to pick up his/her tab.
  5. While Memorial Day was originally a time to remember fallen solders it has also become a time to remember family that has passed.  Place flowers at the gravesides and a flag by those that have served.

Today's hand stamped card is in honor of those who have served and their families!

Steps to Stamp the Card!

  • The Real Red I ran through he Big Shot with the Project Life 3" x 4" Framelit and then again with the Chevron Textured Embossing Folder.
  • I then stamped the sentiment in Real Red on Whisper White (1 1/8" x 4")
  • I then stamped it again using Night of Navy on another 1 " x 4" and cut the words Thank You out and layered on the Real Red Sentiment.
  • The stars are punched out with a retired Star Punch in Champagne Glimmer Paper and 2 adhered with Dimensionals and 1 with a glue dot.

When is a Wheel not a Wheel?

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddy Saturday today and Alison here!  Have you ever looked at our Stampin' Around Wheels and thought - "I love that image but I'm not good at using wheels"?  I used to think that but did you know that you can easily turn these wheels into clear mount rubber stamps? Then you just use your Acrylic Blocks and the "stamp" as usual.

You will need a product from the catalogue - Clear-Mount Cling Foam #124236.  That's it!  And here's how to do it:

Screen Shot 2014-05-22 at 11.54.18 AM

I love the Shop Around image - you can use it as a single long stamp OR cut out each block and use them separately - so versatile! I hope some of these samples give you some inspiration in using this, and other wheels, in a new way!

AND to sweeten the deal - some of the wheels - including this one! - are on SALE in the Retired List Blowout Promotion.  Don't miss out!

Quick Stampin' Tip to Die For!

Starburst Sayings Stamp Set
Today's quick tip video will show you an easy way to thread the bakers twine through the button holes and also a faux button tie!  I wanted a quick card with some bling to express how many "Oh Happy Day's" we have had since our 30 something daughter went back to college last fall.

She is going to school full time, working as much as she can and still finds time to spend quality time with her awesome daughter.  As you can see it won't be long and our 9 year old granddaughter will tower over me.  They take after my hubby.

She called this her faux graduation, as the college only has one ceremony a year and she will finish up with summer quarter.  Her "real" tassel will be gold as she has made the President's list every semester.  So I wanted the card to reflect her gown color and gold tassel.

Starburst Saying Stamp Set 2
Gold is all the rage in card making these days and Stampin' Up! has lots of fun gold embellishments. Gold Foil Paper, Gold Bakers Twine, Gold Embossed Paper and Gold Sequin Trim all featured in this card!  But there is more in the catalog you may want to check it out.

Check out today's Video if you are getting this in reader you can click here to view the video.

Designer embossing folders stampin up

The Oval Embossed image was created with the Set of "Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders" by Stampin' Up!  That is a mouth full so I usually just refer to them as embossing folders, LOL.  This set is on the retired list and is only available for the next few weeks.

Be sure and check out the retired items so you don't miss something that may be on your wish list.

Hoping all goes well tomorrow in my stamp room and I can come up with a fun Quick Tip Video for Wednesday.  Until then find some time to stamp!  Hugs and Happy Stampin!
