World Card Making Day!

World card making day stampin up

Saturday is World Card Making Day, it began in 2006 by the Paper Crafts Magazine to kick of the busiest time of the year for cardmakers.  Since we can't all get together on Saturday to stamp, I thought it would be great fun for everyone to stamp a card Saturday and share it on the new Facebook Group I created for my stamping friends.  The group will also be a place were we can share all year long, you can ask stamping questions and we can connect.

Want to be included in this fun Facebook Group? Click here and ask to join the group

Or Email me your email address and I will send you an invite.

I will be celebrating with my local stampers on Thursday at our Monthly Card Class here is one of the cards we will be making...

October Card 1

I cased this great card from Demonstrator friend Susan Campfield.  The base is 4 1/4" x 9 1/4" and then scored at 3 3/4".  I then ran a piece of Whisper White card stock 3 1/2" x 4" through the big shot using the Fancy Fan embossing folder and attached it to the card front.  Then I tied the ribbon around the center of the card front with the tie towards the right side.

Then I stamped the Star in Lost Lagoon and cut it out with the coordinating Star Framilit.  I punched out a small star and adhered to the center of the star with a glue dot and then attached it to the front of the card with dimensionals.  Then I stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon.

Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set
Border Buddies September Stamp Set

Hello Stampers,

Border Buddies
Sitting in chipped Stampin' Up! rubber in Kanab Utah at Jacob Hamblin City Park

Patsy here with this weeks Border Buddies Saturday post.  Alison and I are both enjoying a wonderful time in St. George, Utah for Founder's Circle.  It is so exciting to be spending in person time together, since we are nearly 3,000 miles apart.  Even though miles separate us, our hearts have been connected ever since we meet many years ago.

Today's cards use the stamp set that was part of September Border Buddies Bundles.

Kinda Eclectic stamp set 3

I like to stamp extra samples using our featured stamp sets to have on display.  While visiting pinterest for ideas, yes even professionals C.A.S.E. (copy and share everything), I came across a card made by Debra Currier, I swapped out the colors and added an extra layer to the butterfly.

Kinda Eclectic stamp set 4

On this card I inked up the leaves in Mossy Meadow and stamped in succession three times before re-inking and stamping again.  It is a very clean and simple card you could even stamp it with several different fall colors hmm... might have to try that when I get home!

Well I am off to enjoy our last full day of Founder's Circle.

My Founders Circle 2014 Swap

Founders Circle Swap 2014 a

Okay this is going to be quick, but I promised I would share my Founder's Circle Swap.  Last night was our Pajama Party and swap.  It is great because it gives me an excuse to go out and buy special PJ's and spend more than I normally would along with special slippers.  I feel much like Cinderella well okay maybe not exactly since we are all in our PJ's and my slippers aren't glass.  But Stampin' Up! truly makes me fell like Princess.

  • Did I mention there is candy dishes everywhere and...
  • I left 40 degrees last week to come to Sunshine and heat and...
  • I needed to bring an extra bag to bring home all the gifts we are receiving and...
  • I will have lots of fun Make and Takes to share with you in the coming weeks and...

Be sure and visit my facebook page to see updates about all that is going on while I am here.

Now I have to get back to all the fun activities!

Throw Back Thursday
2011 Founder's Circle Swap Recreated

Yesterday I arrived in St. George, Utah for the amazing Founder's Circle Retreat.  The Top 100 demonstrators in the US and the Top 20 in Canada are invited to this prestigious 5 day event.  Be sure and visit my Facebook page for upto date happenings.  If you don't already would love to have you "like" my page.

Founders swap 2011

Today's throw back Thursday I will be showing you the card I made for the card swap in 2011 and an re-created it.  No you don't get to see this years swap until tomorrow, since we will be swapping tonight.  For those that may not know what a card swap is, it is where you make a particular number of cards and swap them with others.  For Founder's Circle this year there will be 113 swappers.

Same card design - new colors - different stamp set it would be fun to try this with many different stamp sets and see how they all turn out.  So when in a pinch and can't figure out what to stamp.  Just pick out one of your favorite cards and recreate it with new colors and stamps.

From my heart stampin up 2
Using the 2011 template I created this card with From My Heart Stampin' Up! stamp set.   I stamped the image on Very Vanilla with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad and then re-stamped it on Strawberry Slush and cut out the friendship banner and layered it on top of the very vanilla stamped image.  This technique is known as paper piecing. Haven't seen this technique before or want a refresher you can check out my previous Week 48, How To Video series click here

You Make the World a Better Place

You make my world a better place for sure!  After all if it wasn't for wonderful customers like you I would not get to do what I love.

How many of you have heard “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  I am blessed to love what I do.  The worst part about my job is having to quit at the end of the day.  But the great part is I look forward to waking up and going to work.

My commute is long it is about 20 steps from my bedroom to work.  Of course I stop by the kitchen to grab a cup of tea and toast before I head out for the rest of my commute.  You have to know that this is a huge plus in Minnesota with the cold and snow.  In fact today's high is only going to be in the 40's so I am grateful to be tucked in my beautiful stamp room enjoying life.

Enough rambling for today now onto what you came her to see.

Today's hand stamped card...

Starburst sayings stampin up

The card features the Starburst Sayings stamp set which coordinates with the amazing starburst framelits.

  • Basic Gray 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
  • Hellow Honey 4' x 5 1/4"
  • Whisper White 2 3/4" x 4", (2) 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • Hello Honey 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • Strawberry Slush 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • Bermuda Bay 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Tip: It is best to use a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece of cardstock in your embosslits to fill the entire die.

Little pieces embosslit

The embossed button and arrow are done with the Little Pieces Embosslit.  The embosslits are super cool, they not only emboss but cut out. I love the magic of the Big Shot - quick and easy embellishments in minutes with basic cardstock.
