Throw Back Thursday...
White Christmas and Paper Piecing

Remember the days of paper dolls?  Waiting for the McCall's magazine to come to see what the Betsy would have to wear this month and excited to cut them out.  Well paper piecing brings back a little bit of the pleasure and joy once felt back then.  I don't know if it the memories or the actual cutting that is relaxing to me.

If you are dreaming of a White Christmas then you will for sure want to add this fun stamp set to your wish list or maybe your "have to have list!"  While it has Christmas in the name it doesn't have to be just for Christmas as shown in today's sample.

2014-10-28 12.53.04

We all have friends and family with winter Birthdays.  I believe more than birthday wishes are sent with a hand stamped card.  People know you care enough to take the time to create something special just for them.

In this busy world of technology and being connected more on-line than in person, take some time for yourself to do something you enjoy.  I am guessing if you read my blog you love stamping so take time to stamp up a card and send it to someone special.  Would love to hear who you sent a card to this week!

Step Up! Stampin' Border

Buddies Faux Diamond Technique

Hello Stampers,

It's Alison here with this week's  Step Up! Stampin' with Border Buddies.  Today's card shows how to step up a simple card to a gorgeous shimmery winter scene.

I started with a simple card using the White Christmas stamp set (my favourite!!) and one of the featured Border Buddy cards from this month's class.

This card is so simple to create so perfect if you wanted to mass produce them for your Christmas cards this year.

With a few embellishments you can make them just a little more special.

In this version I added a Nordic Designer Button collection and a piece of All is Calm Designer Washi Tape.  I also created a banner for the greeting.  One last element was to stamp the bear image on a scrap, cut it out and pop it up to give the card some dimension.

For the stepped up version I added Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to the scene to creat the Faux Diamond look.  Doesn't this look like a scene right out the winter?  It's so easy to recreate.

Check out my video and create this card yourself!

Polka Dot Pieces Stamp Set
Sending Good Thoughts Your Way

Polka Dot Pieces Blog
I spoke with one of my customers the other day and she recently broke her foot - ouch!  So I decided to stamp up some cheer and send her a card.  I picked out the Polka Dot Pieces stamp set which is part of the November Border Buddies Bundles.

The Polka Dot Pieces stamp set is a cheerful 6 piece stamp set that coordinates with the Bird Builder, Elegant Butterfly, 1/2" Circle, 3/4" Circle, 1-3/4" Circle, 1-1/4" Scallop Circle, and 1-3/4" Scallop Circle punches.  Since I will almost always be punching out the stamped images I choose to purchase it in the wood-mount.

I love that we have options for many of our stamps in either clear-mount or wood-mount stamps.  What I buy depends on the application.  If I want to see better where I am stamping I get the clear-mount.  If they are something like the Polka Dot Pieces where they have punches or framelits that coordinate with them I buy the wood mount.

Stampin up stamps

Clear-mount are great if you have storage issues. But no matter what clear or wood they store so nicely on a book shelf.

Wood mount spline-horz
Each comes in a great case with all the images stamped on the spline and also on the cover of the case.  The wood-mount cases are the size of a video case (remember those) and the clear-mount are the size of a DVD case.

Would love to hear what is your favorite stamp wood or clear?  How about the New Photopolymer?

Week 4 - 12 Weeks of Christmas Festival of Trees

Hello Stampers,

Alison here for this weeks Border Buddies Saturday.   This is week 4 of our 12 weeks of Christmas and I'm featuring Festival of Trees from our Founder's Circle Swap.

I love when stamps have coordinating framelits or punches (my customer's favourite!) and this set fits the bill perfectly. I love texture in my home decor so these two cards made me happy - I love running my fingers over them and feeling all the different elements!

The first card is by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek and I love the vintage look of her card.  The burlap ribbon and the embossing folders, both on the card front and on the tree, add texture and depth.

The second card is by Kimberly Van Diepen.  I loved this card because it's simple but the layering with different textures and elements really makes it special.

Mustache Happy Birthday Card

Thirty four years ago today we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl.   We named her Danielle,  we had the name picked out when we had our first child who turned out to be a boy.  It was pre  Danielle Steel days and not a very common name back then.  We had planned to call her Danny Rae but she was just always a Danielle to us or Nell.

Mustache framelit birthday card

What is better than one mustache?  Three!
When the mustache framelit came out I just knew I needed to get one since our daughter has a thing for mustaches.   Here is the card I made for her Birthday.   I cased it from an amazing Stampin' Up! demo Mary Fish, whom I am blessed to call my friend.  Her cards are amazing and often times when I love a card on line it is one of Mary's.  While it is pretty much the same card I did change the colors and sentiments.

Danielle loves them so much she has one tattooed on her pointer finger.

Nell and Kit

I felt so blessed the day she was born to have a Son and a Daughter what an amazing gift.   And on top of that she has blessed us with a Granddaughter.

Week 3 - 12 Weeks of Christmas
The Newborn King stamp set

Hello Stampers,

Patsy here for this weeks Border Buddies Saturday.   This is week 3 of our 12 weeks of Christmas and I have a feeling it is going to go quickly.   This weeks Founder's Circle featured swaps are using The Newborn King stamp set.

12 Weeks of Christmas 1A

The first card is one of my Top picks and I am pretty sure it was stamped by Glenda Travelstead but hoping if I am wrong someone will let me know.    Using the Spotlight Technique and adding the Champagne Glimmer Paper around the nativity set really gives a great focal point to the card.

12 Weeks of Christmas 1B

The second card featuring this set is a clean and simple card, stamped by Phyllis Shepherd. Love the little finishing touch with with my favorite holiday embellishment the All is Calm Snowflakes - yes, you really do need some of these on your shelf for the long winter season to add a little splash to your paper crafting.

What is your favorite item in the Holiday catalog?  I would love to have you share what it is, just click on the comments below to share...

Throw Back Thursday
Halloween & My Paper Pumpkin

This weeks Throw Back Thursday features the scrapbook pages I made to capture the memory of one of my favorite Halloween costumes my daughter made for her daughter a few years ago.

As a child I could hardly wait for Halloween, it was one of my favorite holidays and I still look forward to it today! I love to see how all the little kids (and sometimes pretty big kids)  come dress up.

Halloween 2012

Click here to read more about these pages...

When I first started stamping I took coffee filters and wrapped them over the top of Tootsie Pops, tied ribbon around them and made cute little tags.  I figured the Trick or Treaters would just rip off the covers and go straight for the candy.  The kids were thrilled and I could hear  them commenting on how cool they were as they walked down the driveway.

Each year it is a challenge to out do the previous years treats.  This year, My Paper Pumpkin took care of that with these super cute treat holders...

My Paper Pumpkin September 2013 2-horz

What I love most about My Paper Pumpkin is the surprise I receive mid month with all the supplies (except snail & scissors) to make some adorable projects like these.

My Paper Pumpkin September 2013

I can't wait for the little Trick or Treaters to arrive this Halloween to see how much they love this years treats!

Do you have trick or treaters come to your home?  If so what is your favorite treat to hand out?
