This cards is in memory of my Mom, she lived her entire life on the shores of a lake. While my Mom never stamped, she was one my biggest fans and supporters. She use to create cards on her computer using Stampin' Up! paper and then add Stampin' Up! embellishments to jazz them up. Her favorite was Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.
Today's Throw Back Thursday is a review Week 46 that was featured in my 52 weeks of Technique How To!
You can watch the video and also download a free PDF tutorial showing you how to create the reflection using the same stamp.
While I have always loved trees they became more significant after my Mom passed. She battled ovarian cancer for 6 years and lived with us the last two years of her life and passed away December 10, 2010.
This photo is a perfect example of one of her favorite things and also a great example of today's technique. She loved when the trees would get a heavy coating of frost covering the branches of the trees. Normally the frost only lasts a few hours in the morning and on occasion throughout a day and then it's gone. The week after she passed there was a heavy coat of frost on the trees for almost a week. It seemed like a sign that she was letting me know she was still here for me.
While she stayed with us she would often recite her favorite poem…
"Trees" by Joyce Kilmer (1886-1980).
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

What an amazing card! Thank you for sharing the technique – definitely will try it out.
I certainly feel your pain at the loss of your mother. Like you, we miss our mother dearly. My sympathies on your loss.
What an amazing photo of the frost on the trees…I too, love to see the trees with the frost on it but alas living in a new development of houses, there are only little trees. However, it the grass is beautiful as it glistens in the sun. Oddly enough I learned the poem Trees in the 3rd grade and when I saw it, it brought tears to my eyes. Seems there aren’t many beautiful poems such as trees.

Thank you so much Crafty Grandma for you kind words today. It means so much to have readers share with me their stories and a little bit about themselves. We only have frost on the roof tops today and a few blades of grass. Hugs and thanks again so much.
