Border Buddy - Love is Kindness

Hello Stampers,

It's another Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here this week.  Patsy and I are enjoying our time together at Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida - it sure is lovely soaking up the sun along with our fellow demonstrators!

Today's share use the stamp set Love is Kindness.  It's perfect for colouring using watercolouring technique, Stampin' Write Markers or Blendabilities.

The Typeset Designer Series Paper is done with a pleating technique which adds some interest and texture.

Here's another card with a matching envelope liner using the same Love is Kindness stamp set and the Typeset Designer Series paper.

You Warm My Heart, Brian King

1-27 Sheltering Tree11bb

You Warm My Heart is one of four sentiments in the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set.

Here are the other sayings...

  • Thinking of You
  • friendship is a sheltering tree
  • thankful for you

I pretty much like any stamp that includes a tree.  I have share in past post why the tree is so significant to me.  I cased this card from an amazing demonstrator Brian King.  Check out his blog, not only is he super creative, he will provide tons of inspiration for your paper crafting.  His sense of humor will lighten your day.  I will look forward to a Brain hug in just a few short days at the Stampin' Up! 2015 Leadership.

Border Buddy Butterfly Basics

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here this week.  Patsy and I think alike and I had this post ready to go when she posted her Butterfly Basics card last week.  Great minds think alike!

Are you loving the new Occasions Catalogue?  I have so many favourite stamps and embellishments that I thought I would start with Butterfly Basics.  I love that there is a complimentary Butterflies Thinlits Dies as a bundle option!

This gorgeous card was created by my sister, Mo Dickie and it's so fresh and springy (is that a word?).  I'm so ready to leave wintery cards behind and embrace the flowers!

Here's a lovely card with the butterfly framelit die (did I mention it comes as a bundle?!).

1-22 2015-01-12 11.15.14

Throw Back Thursday to Week 51 of my 52 Weeks of Technique How To

Today's card was stamped by one of my team member's Amber Swift.  She is very creative and always full of good ideas. You can check out her blog for more great inspiration from Amber.

Today's Throw Back Thursday takes us back to  Week 51 of my 52 Weeks of Technique How To.  While the card is different the fold is the same.  Many of the elements are from the Stampin' Up! 2015 Occasions Catalog.  My wish list is endless with products I want from this catalog.

My Top 10 Occasion Catalog Picks

  1. Sheltering Tree (#1 - as you can tell from my blog icons I have a thing about tree's - read more here about why)
  2. You Plus Me Bundle (This is a great Valentines set & Paper but can be used all year too and save 15% when you bundle)

Quick Tip Wednesday - Pop Out Thinlits Dies!

Hello Stampers,

I love the fine detailed framelit dies that we offer but I don't love poking out all the little pieces.  Sometimes I get to the last one and rip the paper.  I've seen so many videos and tips on using the framelit dies with wax paper and dryer sheets to make them easier to get out of the little detailed areas.  After trying several recipes this is the one I adapted for my Big Shot (because each machine is calibrated a bit differently).  Now I'm pulling out all my fussy dies and love using them now!

You Plus Me Valentine Note Cards

Clean and Simple Handstamped Card

You Plus Me Stamp Set plus the Stampin' Up! Note Cards make the perfect couple to create some  quick and easy Valentines.

1-20 youplusme twitterpatted

Washi tape is an easy way to add a little pizazz to your card.  Just run it across your card front tear it and you are good to go.  Embellishments can add up when creating cards, however washi tape is economical and goes a long way.

The note cards come in either Whisper White or Crumb Cake they are prescored and include envelopes. So for this card I just folded it...

  • I ran Stacked with Love Washi tape across the front
  • Stamped Twitterpated in Tuxedo Black Memento Pad
  • Stamped the You + Me in Crisp Cantaloupe and punched it out with the 1 3/4" punch
  • Punched a Red Glimmer Paper heart with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack Heart and popped it up with a dimensional.

Step up your hand stamped card

1-20 Youplusme Love Ya

Clean and simple is fun and often times can look like you fussed, but for this card it takes a bit more time but will be worth the WOW factor.   I added the Just Sayin stamp set and Word Bubble framelits.  I almost didn't purchase this set and framelits but am I ever glad I did.  It is often the perfect final touch to my cards.

Throwback Thursday

I hope you enjoyed today's share and stop back Thursday for a Throw Back fun fold card with a new design.

Buttefly Basics Stamp Set "Basic" is the Perfic Word

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddy Saturday Patsy here to share with you some of the reasons I think the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set deserves a spot on your shelf.

Butterfly Basics

What makes "Basics" the perfect word for this stamp set?

I often times think why did Stampin' Up! has given a particular stamp set it's name.  So I looked up Basics in the dictionary...

Definition of Basic: Forming an essential foundation or starting point; fundamental.

A few synonyms for Basic:

  • fundamental - This truly is a fundamental set that can cover any occasion & any gender
  • essential - it will be for so many great stamping techniques
  • elemental - many of the stamps in this set can be the basis for the start of any great card
  • quintessential - perfect! Love this one

So that explains why this is the perfect word to be included in the name of this set.

Butterfly basic close up

Why I choose Photopolymer for this stamp set.

I ordered this stamp set in Photopolymer to make for exact and easy placement of the elements.  The Blackberry Bliss border along the top and bottom of the Whisper White was a snap to stamp, since I could see exactly where I was stamping.

The Fern is Old Olive and I just inked it once and stamped three times without re-inking to give the fern different shades.  I love the mixed font in Sending Wishes Your Way it adds a really nice touch.

  • Blackberry Bliss Paper (5 1/2" x 8 1/2")
  • Whisper White ( 3" x 4 1/4" and some scraps for the butterflies)
  • Classic Inks: Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry and Old Olive
  • Memento Pad: Tuxedo Black

This cards is nice in flat for easy snail mailing.  Speaking of snail mailing I love the new Better Than Email Stamp Set 140463 .  Perfect for adding a final touch to the back of your card.

Better than Email

Throw Back Thursday - Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper

Afternoon picnic

Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper on the Clearance Rack

Today's Throwback Thursday cards is one I stamped last spring.   The Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper has a very springy vintage look.   Sometimes in the cold of winter I like to stamp cards that make me think spring is just around the corner.

Afternoon picnic designer series paper

It coordinates with Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizazz, Wisteria Wonder, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.

  • Price $10.95 $4.39
  • 12 sheets 2 each of 6 double sided designs
  • acid free & lignin free

Afternoon picnic

The stamp sets that I used are Flower Shop & Feel Goods.  The sayings in the Feel Goods stamp set do just that make you feel good.  The Flower Shop stamp set is what I call my go to stamp set.  When I having a bit of a stampers block I grab that set and just start to create.  Bot sets come in Wood- Mount or Clear-Mount.

It can be a bit confusing in the catalog these days with three different styles of stamps.  All our stamps are made in the United States are our manufacturing plant in Kanab, Utah.  I am going to give you a brief description of the three types we offer.  Not all designs come in all three styles.  (that is on my wish list :)

  1. Wood-Mount = Classic Rubber Stamps that are permanently mounted on farmed maple wood blocks.  (wood blocks included)
  2. Clear Mount = Classic Rubber Stamps that cling to clear acrylic blocks. Re-positionable for exact stamping and removable for easy storage. (clear blocks sold separately)
  3. Photopolymer = Clear see through stamps, great cling, perfect placement, cling to clear blocks. (clear blocks so separately

I am a wood girl at heart.  Often times it depends on how I will be using the stamp, if I need to see where I am stamping and to not want to use a stamp positioner I purchase the clear-munt  or photopolymer it they are available in that.  All three types of our Stampin' Up! stamps are top quality.

Stampin leadership is just around the corner

In just a few weeks I will be attending this Stampin' Up! leadership in Orlando Florida. I thought it would be fun to share with you minute to minute samples and fun happenings better going on. This is a test to see how well I can post using my iPhone.

It was just a little over a week ago that I took my fall on the ice and I want you all to know that I am healing nicely and don't think I have too many long-term effects. I want to thank all of you who have since your well wishes.

1-24 Butterflies thinlits

Here is one of the cards I received from one of my team members, Julie Rutter. It was almost worth the fall to receive this amazing card. Thanks a bunch Julie
