Side Step Flower Pot Happy Birthday Card & Flower Bouquet

Another birthday bouquet, this one was hand made using punches and big shot dies.  The beautiful bouquet was made by my childhood friend and person who first introduced me to Stampin' Up!

Most of my childhood birthday's were spent with Sue and this year  was no exception.  While we can't always spend the exact day together we usually celebrate our birthdays.

More Birthday Wishes & Butterfly Thinlits Are Back!

Don't you just love when your Birthday goes on for weeks? Just received these beautiful belated birthday flowers today from my dear friend Deb Valder.  We meet on my very first Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip to Hawaii in 2003.  I would not know Deb if it wasn't for Stampin' Up! She lives in New York state and I am in Minnesota.  Not only are we friends but our families have become close!  As our other dear friend Jan Burnett would say... Life is good!

I thought I would continue to share some of my amazing Birthday cards.  The great part of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrators is most everyone sends you a hand stamped card.  After all who is going to send someone who's business is make cards a Hallmark card?

Butterflies Thinlits Dies

The first card I am going to share with you today  is from my friend Bev.  We have been friends since elementary school.  We both started stamping about the same time.

In fact a cute story...
the first Christmas I sold Stampin' Up! (1998)  I received her hand stamped Christmas Card in the mail.  She had used Stampin' Up! stamps.   I had her's already addressed and ready to go so I wrote on the back of the envelope you will be excited about what's inside.

Butterflies Thinlits Dies2

Don't you love how she did the butterfly cutting it out, then applying the cut out piece on the card front and then attaching the butterfly where she cut it out.

There was a huge backorder on this amazing butterfly thinlit so if you didn't get it yet - don't forget it is 15% off until the end of April, so only a few more days.  Just Stampin' Up's way of saying thank you for being so patient.

Birthday Card Tea Napkin Technique

This card I received from my downline Janet Gallion who lives near Lancaster, PA.   It was hard to capture the beautiful glimmer of this card.  She used a tea napkin (yes you read that right a napkin) applied it to the cardstock and then used heat and stick and iridescent ice it is so sparkly.

Both card bases are made using Coastal Cabana from the 2013-2015 In-Colors.  These colors are retiring and are only available whiles supplies last to make room for the five new 2015-2017 In-Colors coming out in June.  There are only a few items left in this color...

Happy Birthday - Postage Due & Stippled Blossoms

My Birthday was Sunday, April 19th.  It is a very popular day for Birthdays.  Not only did I share it with my Dad's Brother (Uncle Phil), I also shared it with my Mom's Brother (Uncle Faye).  They have both passed now.

I have many years of memories celebrating with my Uncle Phil.  I was born on his 30th Birthday so I could always remember how old he was.  And another crazy thing my Son's Mother in Law has the same birthday.  So I often tease them who are you going to celebrate with this year.

Well I was off to a fun Stampin' Event in the Cities and what a fun day to spend it with 50 other stampers!  I came home to some treats on the counter...

Birthday cupcakes

Our Granddaughter and Grandson made these with the other Grandma for my birthday.  YUM!

I also was the recipient of many cards that I will be sharing in the next week or so.

Stampin' Up! Postage Due & Stipple Blossom

I want to share this one first because both the Stippled Blossoms and Postage Due stamp sets are retiring.  This lovely card sent to me by one of my team members Lana in TN, is so inspiring I am sure you won't want to miss the opportunity to get them before they are gone.

Tiptoe Through the Tulips with Me!

Hello Stampers,

Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here!

Am I dating myself with the title of this post?  Do you remember this song by Tiny Tim?  He was kinda a creepy guy but the song was sweet.  Remember when he and Miss Vicky got married on The Tonight Show?  If you do leave us a comment - if lots of you remember then I won't feel so old.

I can't believe it's almost the end of April and while my tulips have finished blooming in my garden I can't get enough of the Love is Kindness tulip stamp in the Occasion catalogue.  I just love colouring it with our markers and inks.  I hope tulips have poked their heads through the soil wherever you live!

Here are some of my favourite tulip cards that I've received this week.

Love this card by my friend Diane Evans!  The image is embossed in Black Stampin' Emboss powdered before it's coloured so it just "pops" off the page. Diane also stamped a second image so she could cut out and pop up the newspaper wrapping which adds dimension to the card.  I'm loving the From the Garden Stamp set and matching Handpicked Framelits Die too and they are used perfectly to finish off this beautiful card!

This card by my sister Mo Dickie just makes me happy!  I love the colours she used and the special fold too! The front of the card actually opens to reveal the tulips inside - they are just peeking through the cut out window on the front.  How fresh and gorgeous is this card?!

Here's some of the products that were used in today's cards:

Thomas the Train Pop-Up Card

Last year I created and made a Thomas the Train Pop-Up Birthday card for our Grandson's 2nd Birthday.   He loved it so much and still loves Thomas the Train that I made him another one this year.

Thomas the Train Pop Up
I have received many requests for directions on how to make this card, so I decided this time I was going to create a video showing how I made Thomas and also a Punch Chart.

Thomas the Train Punch Chart

A picture paints a thousand words so  how many words does a video paint?

If you subscribe to my blog via email click here to watch the video.  The video will show you how easy it is to make a pop-up card.  You can use this technique on other cards you would like to make pop-up.

Thomas the Train Pop Up 1

Thomas the train bell band

Since the card is a bit bulky and won't stay closed on it's own I made a belly band to slip over the card.

Punch cards can be so much fun.  Want some more fund ideas check out my Punch Art pinterest board.  Thanks for stopping by!

My number 1 best seller this year Butterflies Thinlits

Here is the card I promised I share today.   This card was sent to me by Kathy M. friend and customer.   It had the sweetest note and meant so much.  Kathy and I wouldn't know each other if it wasn't for stamping.  Stamping has been so important in my life in many ways and one is creating life long friendships.

The focal point of the card is the beautiful butterfly cut out with the Butterflies Thinlits.

2015-04-13 23.24.41
The Butteflies Thinlits have been one of my best selling item so far this year.  They became unavailable to order due to a huge backorder resulting from the West coast dock strike.  But good news is they will be available soon hopefully within the next few days.

Stampin' Up! realizes that it was disappointing for some to not be able to purchase this during saleabrations. Therefore, from the day Butterflies Thinlits are again available through April 30, they have two special offers:

  1. Get the Butterflies Thinlits at a 15 percent discount--just $21.20!
  2. Buy any of the Butterflies Thinlits Bundles at the already-discounted price and choose one of three FREE Sale-A-Bration items (only available while supplies last)!

A Handstamped Card Means So Much!

I know you have heard me say many times "we under estimate the importance of a hand stamped card."  I am reminded of this when a customer  sends a hand stamped card and note sharing their gratitude for what I do.   It touches my heart!

Last week I received two cards just days apart and each had a hand written note inside.  I keep these in a special spot near my desk and on one of those days (we all have them) when things aren't going just right I take them out and read them.

Melissa Grace (2)

This card was sent by Melissa, while the paper is retired it was on of my FAVORITES and I LOVE IT!  The butterflies are made with the Beautiful Wings Emboslit they really finish off the card.    Thanks so much Melissa for making my day twice this month.

Melissa Grace

Here is the other card Melissa sent.  Designer paper can really make a card.  The paper on this card is from the Moonlight Designer Paper Stack.  I love these little tablets of paper they are the perfect size for card making 4 1/2" x 6 1/2"  you get 48 sheets of double sided paper for only $6.95.

Even though Melissa and I live half ways across the country from each other I feel like she is my friend - that is the wonderful thing about what I do!

Jason F. Wright was the Keynote speaker at the Stampin' Up! Leadership in January.  He is a he is a New York Times best selling author.  His talk was about the importance of hand written and hand made.  If you are interested here is a small clip of what he shared.

If you are reading this in the email feed you can click here to watch the video.

Stop back tomorrow to see the other card I received last week you will love it too!

All Abloom Designer Series Paper Cards

It's Border Buddies Saturday!

When I first received the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack (DSP) and started to look at all the designs and colors I was a bit overwhelmed.   I have to admit it sat on my shelf awhile before I started to use it.

All abloom paper

Once I started to look at each individual paper I could see the possibilities.  I think you will agree that the paper is what really makes the cards today.

All Abloom DSP Two Kind Stamp Set

The card base is Lost Lagoon (5 1/2" x 8 1/2") with a piece of the All Abloom DSP (4" x 5 1/4") on top.  I cut out the oval with the Big Shot & the Oval Collection Framelits* and stamped the flower from Too Kind Stamp Set

To Kind Stamp Set

This is a two step flower and I stamped the lighter color with Lost Lagoon off stamped to give it a lighter tone.  The darker color in the flower is Island Indigo.

Off stamping is when you ink up the stamp and then stamp it once or twice on a piece of scratch paper before you stamp your card.

The mat behind the oval is Always Artichoke (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") and ran through the Big Shot with the Spring Flowers Textured Embossing Folder*.

I add a Daffodil Delight butterfly cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and a row of Pearls.

All Abloom DSP Painted Petals stamp set

Here is another sample of the All Abloom paper.  The card base is Always Artichoke.  The accent colors are Rose Red and Soft Sky.  The flowers are from the Painted Petals Stamp Set.

Want more inspiration for this paper check out our...
Pinterest Board for All Abloom Designer Series Paper

*due to dock strike on the west coast several items at this time we are not able to order.  But keep them on your wish list and hopefully soon everything will be restocked.
