Cardmaking made simple with a Sketch!

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here today!

I wanted to share a fun challenge with our readers today.  I created a sketch template for a card and designed three cards using the sketch.  What's a sketch template?  Well, it's basically a template you can use to create a card.  No guessing about where to put element - just fill in each piece with Designer Paper, cardstock, stamping or whatever you like and then build it to match the sktech.

Here's the sketch (click on image for larger view of dimensions)

My first card features the Summer Silhouettes stamp set (an oldie but goodie) along with my favourite new Designer paper - English Garden.  Summer Silhouettes is one of the stamp sets Patsy and I are featuring in this month's Border Buddy Classes and free card program.

Read about our program here!

Download Supply List for this card!

Here's very summery version of the sketch:

And lastly a version with my favourite DSP English Garden and the Garden in Bloom stamp set!

I hope you enjoyed learning about "sketches" and hope you will try a card with the layout yourself!

Watercolor Wings Stamp Set, I am sure it will be a #1 seller!

Just want to say I am sorry I didn't get a post up on Tuesday.  You all know how summer's can be.   We had five delightful days of watching our 6 year old granddaughter and 3 year old grandson while their parents enjoyed a get away.  So I am a bit behind this week, but it was so worth it!  Love to hear little Isaac call me Grammy.   He is the first of the 3 grandchildren to give me a nick name all the rest have been Grandma.

Today's card was created using the Watercolor Wings stamp set.

Watercolor Wings stamp set

The butterfly is created using two step stamping.  The base of the butterfly is Mint Macaron and the next layer is Lost Lagoon.   It is going to be fun to see how creative I can get with color combinations using this set.

Cutting out the butterflies is a breeze using last year’s Butterflies Thinlits and this year Stampin’ Up!  added the Bold Butterfly framelits.  Beautiful cards are endless with this stamp set and coordinating Big Shot dies.

Watercolor wings stamp set 9

The intricate butterfly is cut out with the new Bold Butterfly Framelit using Vellum cardstock.    I absolutely love the new Mint Macaron cardstock and the Lost Lagoon combination.

And the embossed butterflies are created with the New Fluttering Embossing Folder.   And the cotton ribbon is new also and comes in all the 2014-2016 In-Colors.

This card is one that is part of or Border Bundles.
If you would like to know more about the bundles click here.

I really feel that this years new in colors are great accompaniments to some of the core Stampin' Up! colors.

Leave a comment to let me know which is your favorite new 2015-2017 In-Color!

Exclusive Host Stampin' Up! Stamp Sets

Hello Border Buddies Saturday...

Patsy here!  Last week Alison shared two of her favorite exclusive host stamp set.  Today I want to share a few more samples of her favs along with highlighting a new one, the Floral Wings stamp set.

Happy Birthday, Everyone stamp set

The Happy Birthday, Everyone is my #1 pick too!  But I am starting to love them all and it is getting harder to decide which one I want next.

Happy birthday, everyone stamp set sentiments

The sentiments in this stamp set will help you totally personalize your cards for that special someone!  The Happy Birthday, Everyone stamp set comes in both (wood) 139171 or (clear) 139958.

Best Thoughts Stamp Set

Alison also shared the Best Thoughts exclusive set.  This card sample is on page 181 of the Stampin' Up! catalog and stamped by one of Stampin' Up!'s concept artists.  The catalog is filled with hours of inspiration!  Every time I look at it I see something I didn't notice before.

This stamp set also comes in (wood) 139234 or (clear) 138700

Floral Wings Stamp Set Stampin Rewards

One that didn't capture my eye in the catalog at first, was the Floral Wings.  But the more samples I see, the more this one is now next on my wish list!  Of course I love the Butterfly that coordinates with the Bold Butterfly framelits but the little vase and flowers has won me over!

Want to see more of these check out our pinterest board with more inspiration!

This set comes in Photopolymer (139169) which I have to say is perfect for this set.  You will be able to add the flowers to the leafy vine so easily by seeing through the stamps.  Or be able to add the stems to the vase without any trouble.

Which of these three is your favorite?

So if you missed it last Saturday or just want a refresher of how you can earn these exclusive sets using your Stampin' Rewards just click here!

Thank You Card made with Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set

Summer silhouettes thank you card

Summer Silhouette along with the Watercolor Wings are the two stamp sets featured in my Earn Free Cards reward program for August.   No matter the weather outside, you'll get that summer feeling when you create some beautiful flowers with this two-step "building" stamp set.

Summer silhouettes two step building 2
The Watercolor Wings stamp set (from Tuesday's Post) is a two-step stacking stamp set.  Two-step stacking is when you stamp one image on top of the other.  Summer Silhouettes stamp set is what we call 2-step building. Two-step building is when you combine individual stamps to build the final image you want in the colors you want.

Summer silhouettes two step building 3

The Stampin' Up! concept artist also did some repetition stamping.

  1. The Pool Party design was stamped full ink on the bottom of the card
  2. Then re-stamped without re-inking just above it.

The repetition technique was also used to stamp the leaves.

Exclusive Rewards from Stampin' Up!

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here today!

Did you know that there are five exclusive stamp sets in the Annual Catalogue and you can earn them FREE.  Two of my favourites this year are Best Thoughts and Happy Birthday, Everyone.  I'm really lucky to belong to a swap group and these are two of my favourites cards from this month!

I love flower stamps and butterflies so this one covers both addictions.  Sandi MacIver stamped on Watercolor Paper and coloured using Aqua Painters and inks.  Remember to stamp your image with Staz On when using Watercolor paper!

Here's a close up of the beautiful colouring - you can get this effect easier because of the type of paper which allows you to layer colour - just wait for each application to dry before adding more layers and colour.

Another gorgeous stamp set is Happy Birthday, Everyone and this card was created by Yvonne Jackson.  I absolutely LOVE the simplicity of this gorgeous card.  You could recreate this over and over again in different colours!

The colour in this version is Tip Top Taupe (say that three times fast!) and has coordinating ink, paper and lacy ribbon.  So pretty!

So now that you are in love with these sets here's how you can earn them FREE for yourself.

  • Purchase a minimum order of $150 - remember if you purchase through our online stores you also receive FREE cards from us too!
  • Choose Host exclusive stamps for even greater value for your reward points!
  • Host a party for your friends and have combined sales from everyone starting at $150
  • The more you purchase or the more your friends purchase at your party the more you earn for FREE!

Here are products used in the card but remember the stamps are only available to customers with qualifying orders/parties and the prices listed are the amount of reward dollars you'll need to earn them free!

Tree Builder Punch New by Stampin' Up!

Everybody loves a stamp set and coordinating punch and you are going to love the New Tree Builder Punch.  It coordinates with the Sprinkles of life stamp set, but I am sure you will find plenty to do with it on it's own also.

While perusing pinterest I saw a baby card made by demonstrator Kelly Kent from Australia using the Tree Builder Punch and I knew I just had to case it and share it with you.

Sprinkles of Life stamp Set Baby 2

I did tweak it a bit because I wanted to use the greeting from the Big New stamp set. Isn't it cute!

  • The card base is Pool Party
  • The greeting is stamped in Chocolate Chip
  • The striped designer paper is from the Cherry on Top paper stack (Love these and this year they are 6" x 6".
  • The mat is the new Tip Top Taupe which I keep wanting to call Tip Toe and then I break out in song "Tip Toe through the tulips".
  • The Branch is the Tree Trunk punched out of Chocolate Chip Cardstock.
  • The baby bundle the cloud using the Cherry on Top Designer Paper
  • Babies feet are two of the leaves or rain drops using Pink Pirouette cardstock.
  • The babies head is punched with the 3/4" circle punch using Pink Pirouette also.
  • And the heart is from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (a must for all stampers) using Watermelon Wonder Cardstock which is also what I used for the mat.
  • The baby is held up with Whisper White Bakers Twine.

It will be interesting to see what other creative things they come up with using the Tree Builder Punch.  Want to see some more fun punch are ideas visit my pinterest board just click here.

Just Because Hand Stamped Card

Last week I mentioned I was in a card swap with some other amazing demonstrators.  Here is one of the cards I created for my card swap.

You've got this stamp set 2

The patterned paper is part of the English Garden Designer Series Paper and the card base is the New Mint Macaron.  It reminds me of the Soft Sage we had years ago and so many have missed.  It is part of the new 2015-2017 In-Colors.  I recommend when you purchase the ink pads to a In-Color to be sure and buy the ink refill right away.  That way your pad will be good for years to come even when it retires in 2017.

English garden designer paper
You will enjoy the English Garden Designer paper in your package you receive 12 Sheets Total (2 each of 6 double sided designs).  Our designer papers are acid free and lignin free making them perfect for your memory keeping also.

The coordinating colors that are amazing with this paper are Blushing Bride, Hello Honey, Melon Mambo, Mint Melody, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Soft Suede and Whisper White.

I used this paper in Saturdays Post (June 6, 2015)  using the Mossy Meadow coordinating color - if you missed it be sure and check it out.

Hope you enjoyed today's card and I appreciate you stopping by!

New Stampin' Up! Stamp Set You've Got This

This month our Border Bundles will feature the Sprinkles of Life and the You've Got This stamp sets.

Each month Alison and I create 4 cards each to use in our Monthly Border Bundles PDF Tutorial & Earn Free Cards.  The tutorial features images, supplies and directions for all 8 cards and you can receive it free with qualifying orders.

Click here to learn more about how you can earn the Free 8 Page Tutorial Free and also Hand Stamped Cards!

I participated in a card swap with some other demonstrators this past week.  I stamped 12 of this card and sent to a demonstrator who sorted them all out and sends 12 different cards back.  It is a great way to get a variety of cards with different styles.

PS Swap

For my swap I used the You've Got This stamp set and the English Garden Designer Series Paper.

  1. I stamped the flower in Mossy Meadow on the Mossy Meadow card base to create a background.
  2. Then attached a 1 3/4"  x 5 1/2" piece of the English Garden Designer Paper about 1/4" from the left side of the card front.
  3. It is very light and didn't show up real well in the photograph, but I stamped the background in Pink Pirouette.
  4. The flower is then stamped in Mossy Meadow over the top of the Pink Pirouette.
  5. The sentiment "I'm here for you." is stamped in Mossy Meadow and embellished with Pink Pirouette Candy Dots.
