Border Buddy Saturday - Live, Love, Grow Photopolymer Stamp Set

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here this week!

On Thursday, in our Just in CASE series I showcased the new Live, Love, Grow Photopolymer stamp set in the Annual Catalogue.  You can see my post here! I just love this cute set.  Did you have a terrarium when you were young?  I think everyone my age did along with our Lava Lamps.

This card was created by my sister Mo Dickie and she mailed me a whole set sampler!  I really loved this fancy fold one and wanted to share it with you. The sentiment layer is created with multiple dies from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies which includes both scallop and non-scalloped edged ovals.  Layering is so easy!

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set

It all folds together to lay flat in the envelope but when you open it you can see the fancy fold and how it all fits together.

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set

I love the way Mo used the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the front which is perfect for this set.  It's a 2 way stamping technique set which means that the outline and inside images are included.  Since it's photopolymer you can easily stamp the matching image perfectly.  Doesn't it look like they were stamped at the same time? This allows you to use a different color for the inside image if you want.

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set

There is lots of room inside the card to add more images and your handwritten sentiment.

Brief Instructions on how to make this card.

  1. Cut your cardstock (8 1/2" x 11") and fold in half to create card base.
  2. Cut a shape out of the front - in this case the Layering Squares Framelits were used
  3. Cut a second piece of cardstock for the inside to 6" x 5 1/4"
  4. Score at 2" and 4" so you end up with three 2" panels
  5. Fold in accordion - glue the bottom piece to the very right side of the inside of your card - the other pieces float free
  6. Cut a corresponding piece that is the same shape and size as the shape you cut out of the front.  This piece is stamped and glue to the first 2" panel so that it fits perfectly in the opening.

Here are some of the products used in today's card.

Last Day to take advantage of Bonus Days is tomorrow, July 31st - make sure to get your order for $50 US/$60 Canadian in before the deadline and earn $5 US/$6 CDN coupon(s) to use starting in August!  Click Here for more details.

Stampin' Up! Serene Scenery Designer Paper and Sheltering Tree

Many of you know how much I love Tree's and so anytime a tree stamp comes out it has to go on my shelf of stamps.  The Sheltering Tree Stamp Set is one of those!

Sheltering Tree Stamps to Die For

This tree has sheltered me most of my life.  My grandfather had a small farm on the shores of Lake Henry in the early 1900's.   My father was born in the house on that farm.  I grew up in the same house however it was no longer a farm but a lake home.   In 2000 my husband and I decided to buy the extra lot south of my parents to build our home.

As a young girl I remember sitting under this tree on the banks of the lake contemplating life.

When I saw the Serene Scenery Designer Paper with the green leaves I just knew I had to use it somehow with the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set

Don't you just love this paper with the leaves?  And there are some other really amazing designs 24 to be exact all in the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and you get 48 6 x 6 sheets for only $10.00.  If you love nature you will love working with this paper.

Here is a quick one minute video showing you all the designs in the paper pack.

I hope you enjoyed hearing a little bit about my life and trees!  I would love to hear a favorite memory you have.

Thoughtful Branches Stamp Set #stampinup

Here are a few of the hand stamped samples created by the Stampin' Up! home office concept artists.  This little treat box is super cute.   They used one of the trees stamps from the Thoughtful Branches stamp set to create a row of trees.  I love how stamped the sentiment on vellum so you could still see the row of trees through it.

You all know how much I LOVE Trees.  If you fancy trees you will for sure want to get this set to create amazing cards. Trees are always great for creating masculine cards which is one of the things stampers love ideas for.

It will also work great for some of you Holiday projects.

Just in CASE Series Stampin' Up! Everyday Jars Dies and Wetland Stamp Set

Wetlands Stamp Set and Everyday Jars Framelits Thinking of You Card #stampinup

Today's Border Buddies CASEd* card is from page 133 of the 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  My card is a perfect case this week except for the stitching around the very vanilla cardstock.   While my mother taught me how to sew, and I will admit I am an excellent seamstress, however it is not something that I find relaxing!

Sewing Machine and Fabric

This quote isn't for me - I would need to be on antidepressants if I sewed often.  But thank heavens I found stamping.  I just need to have a saying "The best antidepressant is a room full of stamps, paper and ink!

Many years ago when our Son had a men's clothing store I actually gave him my sewing machine for him to make quick  alterations. When sewing on cards first became popular I mentioned maybe I would buy a new machine for sewing on cards and I got the LOOK from my hubby. LOL.

My mother was an avid quilter and loved to sew. Not only did she collect fabric but she also collected sewing machines. She use to pick them up at garage sales and thrift stores - bring them home clean and oil them up. She would often give young women who were interested in sewing a machine.  When she passed she had over a dozen different sewing machines.  So I did pick out and keep one.

Here is my CASEd* card.  You can download the FREE PDF Tutorial with Images, supply list, measurements and instructions.  Just my way of saying thanks for visiting my blog.

You can see it looks amazing with that little stitching around the Very Vanilla.  I almost took out the sewing machine today to give it a try - but thought I best wait till I had more time and not on a deadline.  So stay tuned you never know I might start sewing on cards in the future!

Color Your World International Blog Hop Stampin' Up! Sweet Cupcake

International Stampin' Up! Blog Hop

Hello stamping friends it is the 3rd Tuesday which means it is Color Your World International Blog Hop featuring amazing Top Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world.

Today's Color Palette is...

Color Your World July International Blog Hop

I chose the Sweet Cupcake Stamp Set for my stamping color challenge today.  This new set in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog has an awesome coordinating framelit.

Sweet Cupcake and Cupcake Cutouts Framelits #stampinup

Who doesn't love the perfect marriage of a stamp set and framelit?

Color Your World International Blog Hop Sweet Cupcakes Stamp Set Birthday Card #stampinup

It is not required to use all the colors in the challenge but today I did...

  • Daffodil Delight
  • Flirty Flamingo
  • Blushing Bride
  • Cucumber Crush
  • Pacific Point

Basic Measurements

  1. The card base is 5 1/2" x 81/2" Whisper White Thick cardstock which makes the perfect base for your card.  It is a bit heavier than the regular Whisper White and I love how stable it feels.
  2. I mounted a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper to the card front.
  3. The Cupcake is mounted on a piece of 2 3/4" x 4" Whisper White Thick cardstock.
  4. The Cucumber Crush Tag is 1" wide and punched using the Triple Banner Punch.

Color Your World International Blog Hop Sweet Cupcakes Stamp Set Birthday Card #stampinup 2

One of my favorite things about Stampin' Up! is their coordination of colors.  Papers, embellishments and inks all the same color.  See how the Cucumber Crush Thick Baker's Twine is the perfect match to the cardstock.  It takes a lot of guess work out and also makes your projects look professional and amazing.

Border Buddy Saturday - Weather Together

Weather together stamp set umbrella weather framelit

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here this week!

When you live in a rain forest like I do in Vancouver it rains sometimes.  Not as much as people think! The funny thing is that most people who live in Vancouver don't actually use an umbrella unless it is an absolute downpour or you're standing outside on a soccer pitch (which by the way is in January here!).  Having said all of this I absolutely love the Weather Together with the matching Umbrella Weather Framelits dies.  IF I had to use an umbrella I'd love one that looks like these pretty pink ones!

Weather together stamp set umbrella weather framelits 2

The framelits include the little "edging" pieces so you can add some fun detail to your umbrella.  I added a Rhinestone for some bling to the top of each umbrella. The Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper is one of my new favourites and I used it for each of the "brellies".  Can you imagine if real rain was Melon Mambo? LOL

Screen Shot 2016-07-11 at 9.08.33 PM

  • 12 sheets, 2 each of 5 double-sided designs, 1 each of 2 single-sided designs with foil
  • 12" x 12" sheets
  • Basic Black, Gold, Melon Mambo, Whisper White

There are lots of lovely sayings in the Weather Together stamp set.  I choose "sometimes we all need shelter from the storm" which is a lovely sentiment for someone who needs a little cheering up!

Weather together stamp set

I also thought the name of this set describes the relationship Patsy and I have - we definitely weather a lot together! And we sure have fun doing it. Recently we both earned the next Stampin' Up! incentive trip to Thailand in July, 2017.  I'm sure we'll get into some shenanigans together.

When Patsy and her husband Tom visited my husband and I in Vancouver in the spring we took this picture to motivate each other to earn the trip!

Just in CASE Series Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings

I just the Border Buddies Just in CASE (copy and share everything) series we are doing.  It is so much fun to go through the catalog and pick out a card to case.  I mentioned on Tuesday that when you find a card you like even if you don't have the same colors or stamp set you can get creative and improvise.

Today's card I used a different embossing folder and stamp set - but the layout and colors are the same.

Watercolor Wings Stamp Set and Butterfly Folder #stampinup

Today's card is CASEd from page 105 of the Stampin' Up! 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.

Watercolor Wings stamp set and Fluttering Embossing Folder Hello Card Border Buddies Just In CASE #stampinup

The card on the left is the one in the catalog created by the concept artist at the home office.  They used the Flower Shop stamp set along with the Petal of Burst Embossing Folder.   I just placed an order for the Petal of Burst Embossing folder, with my love stamp sets with flowers I felt it was a must!  I love my Flower Shop stamp set and often reach for it as one of my go to flowers., so easy to stamp and punch with the coordinating Pansy Punch to create amazing bouquets.

Watercolor Wings Stamp Set and Butterfly Folder #stampinup 34.jpg11496

For my card I substituted the Watercolor Wings Stamp Set.  This stamp set is a 3 step stamp set.  Three step stamping is when you have three different stamps to create and image.  This stamping technique gives your image so much interest and dimension.

There are hundreds of card ideas in the catalog to CASE.  I hope this inspires you to give it a try.

You Are Never to Old to Stamp!

As long as one can hold a stamp you are never too old or too young to stamp!  My Nelson Gables Residents are proof of that.  Dice the women on my right (your left) use to attend classes in my home that I held and often attended a workshop hosted by her friend.  She still loves to stamp and hasn't lost her touch.   She is often my helpful assistant.

Nelson Gables Stamping Never Too Old to Stamp #stampinup

Stampin at the Gables if often the highlight of my month and I know I will still be stamping when I am their age?

I can't imagine a life without stamping!

Flower Medallion Punch Birthday Card #stampinup

I often use up retired colors of designer paper and embellishments. Since I don't sell product to the class attendees they aren't disappointed that the item is not available to purchase.  While the patterned paper and button on this card is retired you can easily substitute each of those with items you have on hand.

Flower Medallion Punch Crazy About you Stamp Set Birthday Card #stampinup

Both cards use the Flower Medallion Punch which is a current item in the Stampin' Up! Catalog.  It coordinates with the Crazy About You Stamp Set also a current item. I choose to use the New 2016-2018 In-color Sweet Sugarplum as all the women love anything pink!

We all know how disappointing it is sometimes to find a card online or pinterest and the stamp set or paper etc is retired.  That is where our creativity come in. As you learn more about casing cards from our Thursday Border Buddies "Just in Case" series you will find it easier to substitute items you have on hand to create some of your favorite cards even if you don't have all the elements shown on the sample.

Be sure and come back Thursday to see what card I am CASEing this week!

Border Buddies Saturday featuring
the Stampin' Up! Grateful Bunch Stamp Set

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddies Saturday, and it is my turn to post.

You may have noticed this past month there have been a few samples on my blog using the Grateful Bunch Stamp Set.   Flowers are often my favorite stamp set of choice and the Grateful Bunch Stamp Set and Blossom Bunch Punch make a great pair for any hand stamped project you might be making.

Grateful Bunch Stamp Set, Dapper Denium Cardstock, Emerald Green Cardstock, Sweet Sugarplum Rushed Ribbon #stampinup

This card features three of the new 2016-2018 In-Colors, Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Sweet Sugarplum.  It is a very quick and easy card to make.  The vase is Dapper Denim cardstock punched out with the 1 3/8" punch and then I just snipped the top and button to create the vase.

  • Cardbase is 4 1/4" x 11 Emerald Envy Cardstock
  • The Whisper White is 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" matted with Dapper Denim cardstock 2 1/2" x 4"
  • The bow is the new Sweet Sugarplum Rushed Ribbon

Grateful Bunch Stamp Set, Dapper Denium Cardstock, Dapper Denium Rushed Ribbon, All Occasion Card, #stampinup

For this card I just stamped the larger flower from the Grateful Bunch stamp set randomly in Dapper Denim Classic Ink.

The sentiment is from the Grateful Bunch stamp set also and was cut out using the Layering Square Framelits.  I love being able to stamp my sentiment and then lining up the framelit around it to get it centered almost perfectly.

This framelit set comes with 19 different square framelits 8 smooth edge and 8 scallop edge for awesome layering.

Grateful Bunch Stamp Set & Blossom Bunch Punch, Layering Square Framelits, Suite Sayings Stamp Set #stampinup 3

For something just a little bit different I placed a White Perfect Accents in the center of a Classy Designer Button.

Be sure and check out my pinterest board featuring the Grateful Bunch Stamp set and the Blossom Bunch Punch  (say that a couple of times in a row LOL).
