Birthday Blast & Star Blast Edgelits Dies Last Chance

Handstamped Birthday Card using Birthday Blast Stamp Set & Starblast Edglits Dies by Stampin' Up!

I love celebrating my Stampin' Up! Team's accomplishments.

Each month I send a card to the Top 10 in Sales a hand stamped card congratulating them.  The Birthday Blast stamp set and Star Blast Edgelits Dies is the perfect set to create a card to help them celebrate.   The Top Ten in March received this card in their mail-box.  Everyone still loves to receive a hand stamped card in the mail.

Birthday Blast stamp set and Star Blast Edgelits Dies by Stampin' Up!

Here is how to make this hand stamped card.

  • The card base is a piece of 4 1/4" x 11" Whisper White card-stock fold in half.
  • I stamped the image in Rich Razzleberry Ink on the center top of the card-front.
  • The stars are embossed using a piece of 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" Rich Razzleberry cardstock using the Big Shot and the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.
  • I cut out the stars from a piece of Shimmery White paper using the Big Shot and the Star Blast Edgelits Dies and adhered it behind the top of the Rich Razzleberry card-stock and adhered it to the bottom of the card-front.
  • With the Star Blast Edgelits Dies I cut out a star from Silver Glimmer paper.
  • Stamp WAHOO in Rich Razzleberry ink on Whisper White and cut it out using the tag from the edgelits dies.

Time is running out for items in the Occasions Catalog.  You won't want to miss this fun set for celebrating Birthdays, special achievements and anything you want to say Wahoo about.

Border Buddy Saturday - High Tide Stamp Set

BB High Tide Stamp Set 1

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here today.  Patsy and I give away free cards every single month and today I'm sharing one of those cards with you!  Let me give you a little background on our Free Card Program.  Each month we choose two stamp sets and we each make 2 cards with each set.  Then we prepare an 8 page PDF with all the instructions, measurements and supplies and give it as a thank you gift to our customers who purchase through our online stores.  That's all you have to do - place any size order through our store.  It gets better....when that order is $50 or more we send you two of the cards in the mail! My customers love receiving the cards each month.

BB High Tide Stamp Set 2

This month one of our stamp sets is High Tide and I'm so thrilled it's going to be in the next Annual Catalogue so you can use the PDF in the future too.  This card uses a fabulous designer paper stack called Serene Scenery and it had some fabulous designs including this one that looked like the shore and ocean.  Sadly it's retired and has already sold out.  You could create a similar look with a watercolour wash technique.

BB High Tide Stamp Set 3

The lighthouse is a two step technique where you use two images, one on top of the other, to create a multi coloured final image.  In Vancouver we have many lighthouses because we are on the water and so I have a natural love for them.  I stamped the lighthouse and then stamped the sentiment on top.

Screen Shot 2017-04-18 at 11.24.39 AM

These cars were created by the talented concept artists at Stampin' Up!  You can make any colour lighthouse using the two step method and add all the other elements easily because the stamps are photopolymer and you can see right where to place them.

Stamping, Lifetime Friendships and Community

Stampin' Up! Team Diva & Dude Stampers

This is a small portion of my Stampin' Up! team of demonstrators that attended Convention together in Salt Lake City, Utah a few years ago.  Some have been part of my team for over 14 years.  While it was the stamping that brought us together it has created friendships that will last a lifetime.

Each Month (with the exception of a few missed months) I send out a hand stamped card to the top 10 in sales on my team.  A long time ago before I even had 10 members of my team someone said "don't do for 1 what you can't do for 100".  Of course I never thought I would have 100 on my team - but with time I did.

Top Ten Card Number of Years stamp set and Floral Affection Embossing Folder by Stampin' Up!
Here is the card I sent out for the February Top 10 in Sales.  I have demonstrators across the US and Puerto Rico who are part of my team.

  • The cardbase is Watermelon Wonder Cardstock
  • The flower paper is the Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper
  • The embossing was create using the Big Shot & the Floral Affection Embossing Folder
  • I cut out the number & banner using the Large Number Framelits Dies
  • The no. is stamped in Night of Navy ink on Daffodil Delight paper (stamp from the Number of Years stamp set).

You could change it up a bit and have it be a Birthday card and just cut out the number of the year you want to celebrate.  I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to this stamp set.

I am always happy to welcome new team members to the Diva & Dude Stampers.  Read more about it...

Border Buddy Saturday - Mediterranean Moments

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison back this week!

Mediterranean Moments BB Blog Post

Today I'm sharing one of the cards from our Border Buddy Free Card Program.  When our customers purchase product through our online stores we send them a free PDF with instructions to create 8 cards.  Make sure to check out what we offer as a thank you for your order:

Alison's Free Card Program - Canadian Orders
Patsy's Free Card Program - US Orders

Today's card features the stamp set Mediterranean Moments which was designed by our concept artists with inspiration from Susan Nygaard on the occasion of her Million Sales Achievement.  I joined Susan and other Stampin' Demonstrator from around the world in May, 2016 for a cruise that took us to Spain, Italy and France.  It was especially lovely for my husband and I because our daughter Carly joined us on this amazing vacation.  Did you know that's how Patsy and I met? We both earned a cruise through our Stampin' Up! businesses and we just clicked and have been friends ever since.  It truly is more than just stamps when you become part of the amazing Stampin' Up! community!

The beautiful scenery we saw on our travels was the inspiration for Susan's vision.

I love watercoloring because it relaxes me and it's good mental health therapy.

Watercolor Pencils Collage

Here's how I coloured in the image in today's card.  I stamped the image on Shimmery White cardstock with Basic Black Archival ink (you can also use StazOn).  Then I scribbed my pencil on a scrap piece of Watercolor Paper (hard to transfer lots of pigment) and then added water with my Aqua Painter.  I find this technique works well for me because I can control the colour easier.  You can also blend two or more colours to create a new colour if you wish.  You can see how I dragged the green into the yellow in my palette above to create a lighter green.

Mediterranean Moments BB Sat Post 2

The I just layered the colours on my image and left some white spaces to mimic watercolouring. The Shimmery White has a nice surface that doesn't "pill" when you add water as easily as other cardstock.

Here are the products I used in today's card but remember, to receive the instructions you must place an online order with either Patsy or I during March....and IF you purchase $50 or more we actually mail you two of our cards! We feature 3 additional cards using this set and four made with the Little Cuties stamp set.

Border Buddy Saturday - Tasty Trucks & Hey Chick!

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here this week.

Tasty Truck Stamp Set 1

In January I attended a Stampin' Up! Leader's Conference and one of my downline agreed to make cards for our display boards.  Liane Binder made some absolutely adorable samples using the Tasty Trucks free Sale-a-bration reward set and today I thought I would share a few of them with you!

Tasty Trucks Stamp Set 2

Colouring for adults is a big thing these days (as you've probably noticed) but remember when kids would actually colour in a restaurant instead of playing on their IPads? I was so impressed the other day when a saw a Mum and her daughter colouring together while waiting for their food and it reminded me of when my kids were little.  This card brings all those warm feelings back to me.  Isn't it adorable? What a cute idea for a kids birthday party loot bag.

Tasty Trucks Stamp Set 3

Here's another adorable card by Liane combining the Tasty Trucks with the Hey Chick! stamp set (also a free Sale-a-bration choice).  This card just makes me happy!

Tasty Trucks Stamp Set 4

The sombrero is cut from the Festive Birthday Designer Series paper.  This "chick" is ready to party in this taco food truck!

You can earn these stamp sets FREE when your purchase a Sale-a-bration qualifying order ($60 Canada/$50 US).

Border Buddy Saturday - Watercoloring made Easy

Watercoloring is not as hard as you think

Hello Stampers it's Border Buddy Saturday, Patsy here.

Are you scared of water coloring.  It is not as hard as you might think.  Just don't over think it and expect it to be perfect.  That is the beauty of water coloring imperfection!  You are even able to go outside the lines sometimes - gasp!

Beautiful You Stamp Set & Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies by Stampin' Up!

Are you new to water coloring?  The Beautiful You stamp set along with the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils is the perfect place to start.

First because the spaces are small and second because there are not a lot of them.  You really can't go wrong.

Here are some tools for water coloring you stamped image.

 You have several options:

  1. My new favorite is the Water Color Pencils and the Blender Pen
  2. Watercolor Pencils and Aqua Painter
  3. Blender Pens and Ink Pad
  4. Blender Pens and Ink Refills
  5. Aqua Painter and Ink Pad
  6. Aqua Painter and Ink Refill
  7. Stampin' Write Markers and Aqua Painter
  8. Stampin' Write Markers and Blender Pen

I have put these in the order that I find easiest to more challenging.

The papers I recommend are either the Shimmery White or the Watercolor Paper as the regular Whisper White will absorb to much of the water and can get pilly.

Beautiful You Stamp Set & Stitched Shape Framelits by Stampin' Up

For this card I used the Shimmery White paper and the Watercolor Pencils and the Blender Pens.  The shimmery paper also lets the color slide across the top better than regular Whisper White.

The Watercolor Pencils just came out January 4th and sold out so quickly so for right now you are unable to order them.  But it looks like they will be back in stock mid February so don't forget to put them on your orders as soon as they come out, before they are back ordered again.

Anxious to start water coloring now!

Then use your ink pads, order some Aqua Painters and Watercolor Paper.  Week 33 of my 52 Week Series of Stamping Techniques features how to watercolor like a pro with Aqua Painters and Ink Pads.

Border Buddy Saturday - High Tide Stamp Set

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here today!

Last weekend I attended a business conference in Toronto with 80 Canadian demonstrators and participated in a few swaps including one using the High Tide Stamp Set from the Occasions catalogue.  One of my favourite things about Stampin' Up! events is the swapping!

High Tide Stamp Set by Stampin' Up

This was my swap card for the High Tide stamp set.  I made 10 of these and received the same amount back from my fellow demonstrators.

High Tide Stamp Set 2

The stamp set features a two step technique.  This is where you stamp one image (in this case in Smoky Slate) and a second image on top (I used Island Indigo) to create a final image that has some dimension.   I added some Wink of Stella to the "light" to give it some sparkle.

I'm lucky that both of my sisters are also Leaders and attended the event with me.  Here are their swap cards using the High Tide stamp set.

High Tide Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! 2

Doesn't this remind you of Cape Cod? My sister, Mo Dickie (from Toronto) created a beautiful New England scene with her card.

High Tide Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! 3

This card was created by my sister, Ellie Blake (Pickering, Ontario) and I'm loving the colours she used for her lighthouse.  This one reminds me of Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia.  It also makes me long for some warm sunny summer days! I love the sentiments in this set which are perfect for so many occasions.

Patsy and I love this set so much it's one of the sets we've selected for our Border Buddy free card program in March!  Learn more about our FREE cards -  Patsy (US), Alison (Canada)

Just in CASE - Birthday Blooms Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Each week I pick out a card from the catalog and either copy it exactly or change up the stamp set or colors or maybe even both. When CASEing if you go too far, you are then creating your very own card and have just been inspired by the card or project you started to CASE.

Just in CASE page 16 of the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog, Birthday Blooms Stamp Set horz

The More you CASE the more you learn to be creative so there is nothing wrong with CASEing!  Today's hand stamped card is one of my favorite I have done in the past few weeks.  I cased it from page 16 of the 2017 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog.  It is almost an exact CASE.  The only thing I changed was the stamp set and the ribbon.   My little horse hadn't arrive yet so I had to substitute the stamp set.  Sometimes I think you enjoy seeing how it is done with a different stamp set instead of the exact same card.  Is that true click here to share with me?

Just in CASE page 16 of the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog, Birthday Blooms Stamp Set

Today's card features watercoloring and I am so excited Stamipn' Up! has come out with watercolor pencils.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils
They come in 13 of the exclusive Stampin' Up! colors.  You will love how these along with a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter help you create watercolor masterpieces easily.
