Bright & Bold - Happy Celebrations by Stampin' Up!

Happy Celebrations Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com 6

Bright and bold colors are often times my favorite.  When I first became a Stampin' Up! Customer in 1996 I purchased colors in the Bold Brights family.  That is still often times the inks I use the most.  What is your favorite Stampin' Up! color family?

Today's card features one of the new In-Colors called Berry Burst which certainly fits into my bold and bright love!

The stamp set I used is the Happy Celebrations stamp set so while it is not a "new" set, since it was featured in the 2017 Occasions Catalog it is new to me.  I have had a lot of fun playing with it this past week.

Colors from left to right on the card are...

Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, Delightful Daffodil, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive!  It also features the new In-Color Berry Burst 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon.

I love this new ribbon it is so soft and easy to tie.  It comes in all the new 2017-2019 In-Colors.

Happy Belated Birthdays are Great!

Sue (the person I sign up to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator 19 years ago) and I have celebrated many birthday's together.  Our father's were business partners and so we have know each other our entire lives.  The last few years it seems we end up celebrating each other's birthdays late, but that's okay it is like having another birthday.

While Sue has continued to stamp she is no longer a demonstrator - but has joined under me a couple of times over the years.  When her wish list is long I remind her she can always join and enjoy the awesome discount.

Fun Fold Hand Stamped Card

Touches of Texture stamp set by Stampin' Up! fun fold card www.stampstodiefor.com

She stamped this Pop Out Window Fun Fold Card for me using the Touches of Texture stamp set.  She stamped it in my favorite color Calypso Coral.  Isn't it Beautiful!!!!

Touches of Texture stamp set by Stampin' Up! fun fold card www.stampstodiefor.com 3
You can make the window round or square.  Your cutout on the front of the card just needs to be a bit larger than the one you will attach to pop out.

Here you can see how when you open it up there is an accordion inside which makes it stand up nicely to display on a shelf.

Quick and Easy Cards

Each month I stamp with residents at a local senior living center.  The skill of the residents varies a great deal from able to stamp to some that have difficulty holding the stamps.  Each month I try to find quick and easy cards that they can do easily enough but look awesome too.

Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

The residents love to color and this month I thought it would be fun for them to try out the new Watercolor Pencils.  I used the retired Sale-a-brations paper Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper (2 1/2" x 4") for one of this month's cards.  Some colored the entire front while some highlighted just like I did in my sample.   Once they had it colored we used the Blender Pens to blend the color they thought it was amazing.

Stampin' Up! Note Cards

I love the Whisper White Note Cards for easy cards no prep cutting all ready to go.  The new catalog features a similar black and white designer paper called Just Add Color for those who love to color.  If you have placed an order with me in the past year your catalog should be arriving mid to end of May.  You can start to order June 1 at Noon from the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog.

Butterfly Basics by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

The second card we made I CASED from fellow demonstrator Jackie Bolhuis.  I pre-cut the butter fly using The Big Shot and the Butterfly Thinlits .  I pre-tied the baker's twine through the button for them ahead of time.  I inked the stamps for them making easier for them to stamp them and since it was a bit random they were able to stamp them successfully.

This was a wow card but very easy for them to stamp and they felt so proud of their completed cards.

Nelson Gables Stamp Day

They always look forward to me coming and I am filled with so much Joy when I leave.  While I have no sales and no "real" customers it is one of my favorite events that I do each month.

The Stampin'  Up! mission statement is...

To LOVE what we do

and SHARE what we love

as we help others ENJOY creativity

& worth while accomplishments

In this we make a difference.

On my stamping day with them I truly feel like I make a difference.

Border Buddy Saturday - Little Cuties

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here today! I'm sharing a cute card using the Little Cuties stamp set which is one of the sets Patsy and I have included in our Free Card program for March.

Little Cuties Border Buddy www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

This is a simple little card using our Note Cards & Envelopes which come in both Whisper White and Crumb Cake. The size is 5" x 3 1/2" and it's the perfect size for the images in the Little Cuties Stamp Set.  The stamps are photopolymer so it was easy to add the party hat to the top of the kitty's head.  I used our new Watercolor Pencils to colour in the images with a Blender Pen.

The images in this stamp set are perfect for lots of different occasions.

Border Buddy Little Cuties www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

Add your colour around the edge of the the image and draw the colour in with your Blender Pen to create a watercolor effect.  Always add some colour below your image to anchor it.

This card is one of the cards featured in our Border Buddy's Tutorial.  You can earn free cards from both Alison and I for placing qualifying order.

Easy Handstamped Cards That Look Great!

Today I am going to share with you two easy handstamped cards that make a great impression.

The first Tuesday of every month I go to Nelson Gables Senior Care Center and stamp cards with the residents.

They love to make cards and today we will be making these two cards.    The cards we make have to be fairly easy, but I also want them to feel proud of their finished products.

Petite Petals stamp set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

This is the first handstamped card we will be making.

This card was inspired by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Julie Davison.

The little squares are 1" x  1" and cut out of Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo cardstock.  I stamped the flowers in the same colors using one of the flowers from the Petite Petal stamp set.  I then punched them out with the coordinating Petite Petal Punch.

The Basic Black flower center is cut out using the Big Shot and the little circle from the Paisley Framelits Dies (a carry over item from the Holiday Catalog).  The Happy Birthday is from the Birthday Banners stamp set and stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

I often get asked which black ink to use.  We have several options...

  • Basic Black Archival Ink
  • Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Stazon Jet Black

When using the Photopolymer stamps I like to use the Memento ink pad.  I use the Archival and Stazon inks when using the red rubber stamps.  If I could only pick one ink pad I would buy the Basic Black Archival ink pad.

In the Meadow stamp set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com
This is the second hand stamped card.

This card was inspired by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Lisa Young.

We will be stamping the flowers from the In the Meadow stamp set in Basic Black ink.  And adding the splashes from the Works of Art stamp set and stamping them in Soft Sky & Mint Macaron ink. The Happy Birthday is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and stamped in Basic Black ink.

The Soft Sky cardbase is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" cardstock folded in half.

The Basic Black Matt is 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" and the Whisper White is 3 1/4" x 4 1/2".

The Basic Black embellishments I cut out using the little circle from the Paisley Framelits Dies and placed a Basic Rhinestone in the center.

Thanks for your patience with me this past week while having technical issues with my blog.  I appreciate your loyal readership.

If you are running short on time remember Quick and Easy cards can look great!

Lift Me Up Stamp Set and Up & Away Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com 2

This hand stamped card was created using the Lift Me Up Stamp Set and coordinating Up & Away Thinlits Dies.  The patterned paper was designed to go with this stamp set and is one of the Exclusive Sale-a-Bration Free Products.

Instructions:

  1. Fold a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock 4 1/4" x 11" in half to create card base (can use a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" for a side fold card)
  2. Adhere the patterned hot air balloon paper 1 1/2" X 5 1/2"  to the left hand side of the card about 1/8" from the edge.
  3. Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy Classic Ink on the bottom of a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 3" x 4 1/4".
  4. Stamp clouds randomly in Soft Sky Classic Ink, stamp another cloud on a piece of Whisper White scrap paper and cut out with coordinating thinlit die.
  5. Stamp the small hot air balloons in Night of Navy Ink on Mint Macaron Cardstock & Peekaboo Peach and cut out with coordinating thinlit die.
  6. Stamp the large hot air balloon in Night of Navy Ink on Watermelon Wonder Cardstock and cut out with coordinating thinlit die.
  7. Arrange hot air balloons randomly above the sentiment.  Looking at my card now I realize I should have had the smaller hot air balloon behind the larger balloon as the larger one would appear closer.
  8. Attache the cloud overlapping one of the hot air hot air balloons with a dimensional.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and feel like sailing away into the air with this great stamp set and dies.  And don't forget if you buy them in the bundle you save 10%.

Just in CASE Suite Sayings

Its Thursday's Just in CASE Series.

Alison and I both CASE a card and share it each Thursday.  One of the fun parts for us is we don't know until you do which card each other has cased.

CASEing COPY AND SHARE EVERYTHING is when you pick out a card and either copy it exactly or change up the stamp set or colors or maybe even both,  but if you go too far you are then creating your very own card and just are inspired by the card or project you started to CASE.

The More you CASE the more you learn to be creative so there is nothing wrong with CASEing!

Just in CASE Suite Sayings stamp set by Stampin Up www.stampstodiefor.com -horz
Left: Stampin' Up! Card page 104 Right: My CASE

Today's card is and exact case and can be found on page 104 of the Stampin' Up! Annual catalog.  There are so many great stamping ideas in the catalog that it is not only a book of the products available to you, but also a great tool for inspiration.

My colors might be a bit different than the sample.  It is hard to tell as photography lighting can be so different from picture to picture.  And remember Stampin' Up! has professional photographers and cameras.

Just in Case 104 Suite Sayings stamp set by Stampin Up www.stampstodiefor.com 2

The sample in the catalog is to show case the sentiment from the Suite Sayings stamp set.  I love the variety of fonts used in this set and also how many occasions the sentiments cover.

Today's card is going to a very special person in my life our Daughter Danielle she turns 36 today.  She is the most amazing daughter, wife and mother to her 4 wonderful children.  Happy Birthday Sweetie!

Suite Sayings Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

This stamp set was first featured last winter in the Occasions Catalog and I am so glad it came out in the Annual catalog with the great versatility of this set.

Flower Patch Stamp Set by Stampin Up

The flower stamp set used in the card is from Flower Patch stamp set on page 150.

Flower Fair Framelits by Stampin Up
It has a coordinating framelit called Flower Fair.  We all love the framelits and punches so there is no fussy cutting.  For this card I cut out the Flower and one of the leaves to give it a bit more dimension.

Just in CASE Suite Sayings & Flower Patch stamp set by Stampin Up

The color palette for today's card was...

  • Melon Mambo for the large cutout flower
  • Pink Pirouette for the small flowers
  • Old Olive for the leaves (the solid part is off stamped once).
  • Smoky Slate for the sentiment
  • Old Olive Bakers Twine

Border Buddy Saturday - Live, Love, Grow Photopolymer Stamp Set

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set www.stampstodiefor.com

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here this week!

On Thursday, in our Just in CASE series I showcased the new Live, Love, Grow Photopolymer stamp set in the Annual Catalogue.  You can see my post here! I just love this cute set.  Did you have a terrarium when you were young?  I think everyone my age did along with our Lava Lamps.

This card was created by my sister Mo Dickie and she mailed me a whole set sampler!  I really loved this fancy fold one and wanted to share it with you. The sentiment layer is created with multiple dies from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies which includes both scallop and non-scalloped edged ovals.  Layering is so easy!

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set www.stampstodiefor.com

It all folds together to lay flat in the envelope but when you open it you can see the fancy fold and how it all fits together.

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set www.stampstodiefor.com

I love the way Mo used the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the front which is perfect for this set.  It's a 2 way stamping technique set which means that the outline and inside images are included.  Since it's photopolymer you can easily stamp the matching image perfectly.  Doesn't it look like they were stamped at the same time? This allows you to use a different color for the inside image if you want.

Live Love Grow Stampin Up Stamp Set www.stampstodiefor.com

There is lots of room inside the card to add more images and your handwritten sentiment.

Brief Instructions on how to make this card.

  1. Cut your cardstock (8 1/2" x 11") and fold in half to create card base.
  2. Cut a shape out of the front - in this case the Layering Squares Framelits were used
  3. Cut a second piece of cardstock for the inside to 6" x 5 1/4"
  4. Score at 2" and 4" so you end up with three 2" panels
  5. Fold in accordion - glue the bottom piece to the very right side of the inside of your card - the other pieces float free
  6. Cut a corresponding piece that is the same shape and size as the shape you cut out of the front.  This piece is stamped and glue to the first 2" panel so that it fits perfectly in the opening.

Here are some of the products used in today's card.
