I was able to create the watercolor flower by using watercolor paper and a spritz of water.

  • Just spritz the watercolor paper lightly with water
  • Ink up your stamp (I used Calypso Coral) and stamp on the damp paper and watch it bleed.
  • Then I stamped the center using Daffodil Delight
  • Punched it out and was ready to embellish my card with it.

The Delicate White Dollies, 5/8" Burlap and Linen Thread are all being carried over to the new catalog so never fear you will still be able to get them.  While we often think of Burlap as a more masculine embellishment pairing it with the Delicate Dollies makes this card have a rustic feel.

The count down is here! Only 2 more sleeps until you can place your orders from the new catalog June 1st at NOON.  But if you want to avoid the website overload wait until later in the day or even June 2.

Thursday's post you can Download or View the New Catalog Online...

Wild About Flowers - What are you wild about?

Wild about Flowers Stamp Set and By the Sea Designer Series Paper Stamps to Die For
I am wild about the stamp set "Wild About Flowers".  How about you?  It is easy to use and every card I make with it I love.  While the sentiments in the set may not fit every occasion, if you know anyone retiring or starting out on a new adventure it is perfect.

I needed a Thank You card so I grabbed my Thankful Thoughts stamp set and used those for this card.  I really love how it crisp an image they stamp.

  • The card base is Soft Sky with a layer of designer paper from the By The Shore Designer Series Paper.
  • I choose to use Very Vanilla for the tag which I punched the end with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.
  • The two ink colors are Dapper Denim & Mint Macaron

I only used the two ink colors for this card, I just off stamped the Dapper Denim to achieve a lighter blue image.

Off stamping is when you ink up your stamp and then stamp it on a piece of scrap paper before you stamp your image.  You can off stamp multiple times to achieve different shades with the same color ink.

Off stamping
Full Ink - Off Stamped Once - Off Stamped Twice

Sometimes you off stamp on scrap paper but sometimes off stamping can be re- stamping your project to make different shades. Check out the card I made a while back using this technique with a similar stamp set.

I finished of the flowers with the smallest pearls from the Basic Pearls embellishments.  The ribbon is the  Ruched Dapper Denim ribbon tied with a little piece of Linen Thread.  Don't forget to stop back Thursday and see what card I CASEd this week.

Thanks for lifting me up

Special hand stamped card for a special friend.

Do you have a special friend that knows just what to say and when to say it to lift your spirits?  The Lift Me Up stamp set has a great sentiment to thank that special friend.   While this card can look a bit overwhelming it is a pretty easy card to make.

When I first started stamping meant Ink, Paper & Stamps.  But now it means Ink, Paper, Stamps & the Big Shot!

Lift me Up Stamp Set and Hearth & Home Thinlits from Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com 1

I remember in days gone buy how we would try to make window frames for cards.  It was so puttsy trying to cut out the squares and get them just right.  Now with the Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies and the Big Shot it is easy peasy!

How to make this card...

The base of the card is Peekaboo Peach (4 1/4" x 11" for top fold or you can do a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" for a side fold).

The next layer is a piece of (4" x 5 1/4") Crumbcake cardstock that I stamped the Hardwood Background stamp in Crumbcake ink to create a wood look.

Then I cut out a piece (2 3/8" x 3") of the Night of Navy and Whisper White patterned paper from the Carried Away Designer Series Papers and glued it to the center card front about 1" from the top.

I stamped the small hot air balloon from the Lift Me Up stamp set in Night of Navy ink and cut it out with the coordinating Up & Away Thinlit Die & the Big Shot.  Then I glued it to the patterned paper on the cardfront.

The window frame is cut out of a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies and the Big Shot. I then adhered it over the patterned paper with dimensionals.

The window box is cut out using Soft Sky cardstock.  Then I stamped "THANKS FOR LIFTING ME UP!" in Night of Navy ink and adhered the window box  to the bottom of the window with dimensionals.

The window box flowers & leaves are from the That's the Tag stamp set. I stamped the flower in Night of Navy ink on Peekaboo Peach cardstock  and the leaves in Night of Navy ink on Macaron cardstock.  Then I cut them out with the coordinating Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies.

I attached the flower and leaves to the window box with glue dots.

Do you like the look of windows when making cards?

Sunday Sketches SS021

I hope you have been enjoying the Sunday Sketches Series and it has inspired you to create some cards using the sketches.   This week sketch is using the Lift Me Up stamp set featured in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.

Sunday Sketches SS021 by Stamps to Die For

Measurements:

  • Card Base: Top Fold 4 1/4" x 11" Side Fold 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
  • Strip: 1 1/2" x 5 1/2"
  • Rectangle: 2 1/2" x 2 3/4"
  • Mat" 2 3/4" x 3"

I am not fond of heights and will admit riding up in the sky in a balloon never made my bucket list.  A friend gave us the gift of riding in a Hot Air Balloon.  It is pretty costly and I didn't know how to graciously not accept them.  So off we went and I have to tell you it was the most amazing thing in the world.

Peaceful, quiet and no sense of height it is hard to describe.  Here is cut poem about hot air balloons.

Hot Air Balloon

I’m leaving town I’ll be back soon
I’m taking a ride in a hot air balloon.

The noise is loud when the burners fire.
The heat takes me up higher and higher.

I float in the sky.
It’s a wonderful thing.
Now I know why flying birds sing.

Let your imagination run wild!

Sketches are open to interpretation.  You can create a card exactly using the sketch layout, using a square where there is a square, or you can change it to a be a circle, or oval or flower etc. You can also turn the sketch so if it is a vertical sketch you might want to turn it to be horizontal.

Lift Me Up Stamp Set and Up & Away Framelits by Stampin' Up! Thank You Card www.stampstodiefor.com
I realized when I was posting this photo that the small balloon should be behind the right balloon to give it the proper perspective.   So next time I will put my smaller balloon behind.  I love stamp sets that have coordinating framelits making it so easy without any fussy cutting.

You can see below the list of things I used to create this card.  I hope you enjoyed today's case! I would love to hear if you created a card using the case.   I have posted the sketch on my Facebook page if you stamp a card I would love to have you share it there.

The "thank you so much" is heat embossed.  Embossing makes such a "Wow" on your paper crafting projects.  To testify how amazing the Stampin' Up! heat tool is I have had mine over 15 years.  It has been used for many classes and thousands of cards.

Haven't ever heat embossed before or need a refresher, you can watch the Stampin' Up! Video "Embossing With Stampin' Up! Products".
