Just in CASE Series - You won't want to miss the Stampin' Up! Penned & Painted Stamp Set

Its Thursday's Just in CASE Series.

My Border Buddy Alison and I both CASE a card and share it each Thursday.  One of the fun parts for us is we don't know until you do which card each other has cased.

CASE = COPY AND SHARE EVERYTHING

CASEing is when you pick out a card and either copy it exactly or change up the stamp set or colors or maybe even both, but if you go too far you are then creating your very own card and just are inspired by the card or project you started to CASE.

The More you CASE the more you learn to be creative so there is nothing wrong with CASEing!

Penned & Painted Stamp Set is retiring!

This is by far one of my favorite flower sets and will remain on my stamping shelf even after it retires.  I love two step stamping and technically this is three steps.  The multiple steps make such amazing dimension on stamped images.

You only have a few more weeks to order this retiring stamp set so don't wait too long.

The colors used in today's card are...

Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Pear Pizzaaz.  The patterned paper is part of the retiring Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper so it may already be gone.  All retiring products are ONLY WHILE SUPPLIES LAST except stamp sets are guaranteed till May 21

Everyone loves when I use a different stamp set from the original.  For today's card I have not only changed up the stamp set but also the colors and paper.  The card on the left uses the Birthday Fiesta Stamp Set from the Annual Catalog.

Nailed It stamp set by Stampin' Up! Just in Case Serieis www.stampstodiefor.com 2

My Birthday card features the Nailed It stamp set by Stampin' Up!  Notice the 3D hexagon embossing on the card base?  We have a few embossing folders that are called Dynamic Textured Impressions Folders which create a very 3D embossing.

The folders are run through the Big Shot only using one plate since the folder is thicker than normal.

You won't want to miss getting your hands on the Nailed It Stamp Set and Builder It Framelits Dies.  These are both in the Occasions Catalog and while the stamp set will be till the end May - the framelits are ONLY WHILES SUPPLIES LAST.  You won't want one with out the other.

Many of my long time readers know how much I LOVE Fiesta Stamp Set & the Fiesta Time Framelits Dies.  This is one of the stamp sets that is retiring and won't be available after May.  Check out a previous post of my using this set to create a Fun Fold - Book Fold Stamping Technique.

Masculine Birthday Card Using Nailed it Stamp Set

Nailed It stamp set by Stampin' Up! Just in Case Serieis www.stampstodiefor.com 3

One of the requests I get frequently is for Masculine Card ideas.  The Nailed It stamp set is the perfect stamp set for most any guy.  Even if he is not a handy guy he still loves tools.

The colors in the Urban Underground Designer Paper is the perfect compliment when creating man cards.  It features Basic Black, Basic Gray, Delightful Dijon, Silver and Very Vanilla these colors together create stunning cards.

The little wrench I stamped with Stazon Jet Black Ink on Foil Silver Paper.  Stazon ink won't smear on shinny surfaces making it the perfect ink selection for foil paper, cello bags or even plastic bags.

Little Cuties or Little Critters what do you think this stamp set should be called?

CASE = Copy And Share Everything

Each week I share a fun card I cased from on of the current Stampin' Up! catalogs.  This week I cased a card from the Sale-a-bration (SAB) catalog.  You only have today and tomorrow to earn your FREE exclusive SAB product.  You can pick from a variety of stamp set, designer paper, ribbons and more.

Isn't that little chick with the bad hair day cute?  Hopefully you can still earn the Hey Chick stamp set free and it isn't all gone!  He/she is one of 3 cut whimsical chickens in the set.

The cute little puppy on the right is from the Little Cuties stamp set, I also share a card using this sat last Saturday on our Border Buddy's post.  I often refer to this set as Little Critters so it may be confusing.  Sometimes I get a name in my head (wrong name) and just can't get it out.  So for the duration of the Occasions catalog this may be the Little Critters LOL.

Stamping Inspiration Made Easy

CASE = Copy And Share Everything

I love stampers, they are generous and love to share what they have been creating.  In the beginning everything I created was copied.  Now it is a huge compliment when someone copies my work, of course I appreciate when they mention who inspired them.  It is important when we CASE to give credit where credit is due.

I created the Just in CASE series to demonstrate how the Stampin' Up! catalogs are full of inspirational samples and ides.  As Stampin' Up! demonstrators we also get inspiration from an exclusive website just for Stampin' Up! demonstrators and every quarter Stampin' Up! sends out a  too.  And, if you become a SU Demonstrator you get a quarterly magazine called Stampin' Success full of more papercrafting ideas.

When you CASE you can copy the card exactly or change up the stamp set or colors or maybe even both,  but if you go too far you are then creating your very own card and just are inspired by the card or project you started to CASE.

Just in Case page 7 Occasions Catalog Big on Birthdays stamp set by Stampin' Up! Handstamped Birthday Card. www.stampstodiefor.com 7
Left: Stampin' Up! Concept Artist Card page 7 of the Occasions Catalog --- Right: My CASE

Stamping changes I made in my CASE'd card...

  • For my card I replaced the Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper (DSP) with a piece of Candle paper from the Party Animal DSP.
  • I replaced the stamped image from the Cake Crazy stamp set with one from the Big on Birthdays.  I embossed the greeting with White Embossing Powder just like the concept artist did.

  • I replaced the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim with the Emerald Envy Rushed Ribbon

Just in Case page 7 Occasions Catalog Big on Birthdays stamp set by Stampin' Up! Handstamped Birthday Card. www.stampstodiefor.com

Do you feel guilty when you copy a card?  Don't it is a high form of compliment.  I wouldn't share them here with you if I didn't want you to CASE them.

Just in CASE Series pg 7 Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog www.stampstodiefor.com

I have embossed more in the last month than I have in the past couple of years.  It makes such an impression and is really very simple to do.  I think I mostly hated the mess of the powder but have learned it is easy to just wipe up the random misplaced powder with a baby wipe, problem solved.

Be sure to you your embossing buddy to wipe over your cardstock before you emboss so you don't get random flecks of embossing on your project.

Easy Embossing Steps...

  1. Run your Embossing Buddy over the cardstock to be embossed.
  2. Stamp image with Versa Mark Ink
  3. Power your powder over the stamped image.
  4. Tap off powder
  5. Heat image

Lift Me Up

Just in CASE Series pg 82 Stampin' Up! Annual catalog Lift me Up stamp set www.stampstodiefor.com

Today's Just in CASE handstamped Birthday Card

Ever have one of those days, weeks or months?  Last week I took a tumble down several stairs in the dark and landed on my left arm.  Do you know how difficult it is to stamp with one arm?   Not only is it my livelihood but also my passion.  I am glad I had a bunch of cards all stamped and ready to share with you.

Stampin' Up! Stamp Set used today

The stamp set "Lift Me Up" made me think of how wonderful it is when one is down to have amazing family and friends to lift you up.  I am not good at asking for help so it is awesome when someone just knows what to do.  I have voice recognition on my computer so that has helped a great deal as typing with one hand just doesn't work too good.

Enough about that - do you know someone who could use a lift - stamp them up a card and mail it out - brighten their day!

Just in CASE Series With a Stamping Tip

CASE = COPY AND SHARE EVERYTHING

Each week I pick out a card from the catalog and either copy it exactly or change up the stamp set or colors or maybe even both. When CASEing if you go too far, you are then creating your very own card and have just been inspired by the card or project you started to CASE.

Page 25 2-horz
Left: Stampin' Up! Concept Artisit page 25 of the Occasions Catalog --- Right: My CASE

Many of you have shared how you love when I use a different stamp set when I case, so today I switched up the stamp set and the colors used in the card.

I chose to use the dancing women from the Beautiful You stamp set.  Then I used the watercolor pencils and a blender pen to color her in.

Just in CASE Series pg 82 Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog Lift me Up stamp set www.stampstodiefor.com 3

I took some of the burlap ribbon and cut the side off and then pulled strands of burlap to place under my sentiment.

Just in CASE Series pg 25 Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog Beautiful You stamp set www.stampstodiefor.com

Added some sequins and enamel shapes for a little extra splash of color.

Stamping Tip Masking with Post it notes www.stampstodiefor.com 5

For the inside of the card I wanted to use this stamp but didn't want the comma or the gorgeous so I masked off the words.  You can use a marker and just color the words you want - but I like how I can get a better stamped image when using an ink pad.

Stamping Tip Masking with Post it notes www.stampstodiefor.com
Covered the comma and the gorgeous with post it notes.

Inked up the stamp with the post it notes in place.

Removed the post it notes and stamped.

Stamping Tip Masking with Post it notes www.stampstodiefor.com 4

So my sentiment is just Happy Birthday (without the gorgeous).   Love adding a little bit of washi tape or a strip designer to the inside of my card to give it a little extra pizzazz.

How to CASE a Handstamped Card in 3 Easy Steps.

Just in CASE Series

Just in Case Window Shopping Stamp Set & Window Box Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stamptodiefor.com s
Left: Stampin' Up! Concept Artist's Card pg 91 Annual Catalog Right: My CASE (Copy And Share Everything)

How to CASE a handstamped card in Three Easy Steps:

  1. Pick Your Card
  2. Pick the Stamp Set you want to use
  3. Pick the Colors

It is basically that simple, I will go into a little more detail later on.   The only thing similar between the two this week  is the template (layout) and the metallic thread and sequin embellishment.

The past few weeks I have been trying to use a different stamp set to give you more ideas of how to CASE when you don't have the same things featured in the original card.

Just in CASE Series Page 91 Annual Catalog - Window Shopping Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

Since I had just received the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper I wanted to use that in my card.  It coordinates well with Stampin' Up! colors Soft Sky, Very Vanilla, Sweet Sugarplum, Blushing Bride.  I used some of the patterned paper for the accents and Very Vanilla for the Card Base and Sweet Sugar Plum for the cut out.

Window Box Thinlits & Window Shopping Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

For the cutout I used the Window Box Thinlits Dies which was also used to make these fun projects.  You can use it to make these adorable little boxes, making this template very multi tasking.

How to Add Some Stitching to Your Stamped Card (no sewing).

How would you like to add some stitching to your cards without ever dragging out the sewing machine?

Stitching on Tag End with Square Stithced Shapes Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

I am going to share a small secret about myself...

I am not fond of sewing. It isn't that I am not an accomplished seamstress, I had the best teacher my Mom.  It's just that I never could get the tension on the sewing machine to work right once I got my own machine.  My Mom would come adjust it and after she left I would have a thread nest in the bobbin area.  Can anyone relate?

I gave my dusty sewing machine to our Son when he bought his Clothing store, for him to do quick hems etc.

It wasn't long and sewing started to appear on cards.  When I mentioned I might need to get a new machine to sew on my cards...

My husband gave me the look, a new machine wasn't in the cards (no pun intended), besides if I bought one he might expect me to mend things too and that would take away from my stamping time!

I do love the stitched look so when the Stitched Shapes Framelits came out I was so excited.  The look of sewing - but no sewing.  You may notice that I have been using them on a lot of cards lately.  I LOVE THEM!

Little Critters Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Just in Case from page 16 of the Sale-a-brations SAB www.stampstodiefor.com
Left: Stampin' Up! Concept Artist Card page 16 of the Sale-A-Bration Brochure Right: My CASE

I changed up the colors and the stamp set on today's CASE card.  Doesn't it make it look so different?   Notice on the Stampin' Up! concept artist card on the left there is sewing on the tag.  I was trying to think what I could do besides sewing...

Stitching on Tag End with Square Stithced Shapes Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

Then it hit me, maybe I could use the Stitched Shapes Framelits to create the stitching on the end of the tag.  So I grabbed the Square one from the set (there are 4 squares, 4 ovals and 4 circles in different sizes).

Let me show you a couple pictures to illustrate how I added stitching without sewing!

How to create a stitched end on a tag www.stampstodiefor.com

  • The cardstock is 1 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" long.
  • I place one end of the cardstock underneath the square framelit
  • The other end on top.

Big Shot

Then I ran it through the big shot, but only until the one end that was underneath the framelits went through and then I backed it out.  I was so excited I had to run and get my hubby and show him how amazing it was.  Well he tried to act excited.

Just in Case Series - Little Critters Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

I could hardly wait to share it with you because I knew you would totally get how cool it is.  The little chick is from the Little Cuties Stamp Set featured in the Occasions Catalog on page 17.   He doesn't always have to have ears - you stamp them separately.
