Watercoloring is not as hard as you think
Hello Stampers it's Border Buddy Saturday, Patsy here.
Are you scared of water coloring. It is not as hard as you might think. Just don't over think it and expect it to be perfect. That is the beauty of water coloring imperfection! You are even able to go outside the lines sometimes – gasp!
Are you new to water coloring? The Beautiful You stamp set along with the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils is the perfect place to start.
First because the spaces are small and second because there are not a lot of them. You really can't go wrong.
Here are some tools for water coloring you stamped image.
You have several options:
- My new favorite is the Water Color Pencils and the Blender Pen
- Watercolor Pencils and Aqua Painter
- Blender Pens and Ink Pad
- Blender Pens and Ink Refills
- Aqua Painter and Ink Pad
- Aqua Painter and Ink Refill
- Stampin' Write Markers and Aqua Painter
- Stampin' Write Markers and Blender Pen
I have put these in the order that I find easiest to more challenging.
The papers I recommend are either the Shimmery White or the Watercolor Paper as the regular Whisper White will absorb to much of the water and can get pilly.
For this card I used the Shimmery White paper and the Watercolor Pencils and the Blender Pens. The shimmery paper also lets the color slide across the top better than regular Whisper White.
The Watercolor Pencils just came out January 4th and sold out so quickly so for right now you are unable to order them. But it looks like they will be back in stock mid February so don't forget to put them on your orders as soon as they come out, before they are back ordered again.
Anxious to start water coloring now!
Then use your ink pads, order some Aqua Painters and Watercolor Paper. Week 33 of my 52 Week Series of Stamping Techniques features how to watercolor like a pro with Aqua Painters and Ink Pads.
